Wow! What an absolute thriller we've witnessed here at Sylhet between the Rangpur Riders and Fortune Barishal. This game had it all—action-packed moments on the field and drama off it.

This is the beauty of T20 cricket—where one over can completely shift the game's momentum. And that’s exactly what happened!

The Rangpur Riders have snatched victory and secured two crucial points from the Fortune Barishal. Despite Tamim Iqbal's side dominating for 39 overs, the Riders needed 26 runs from the final over. Step forward Nurul Hasan, who played a stunning knock, taking his team over the line and sealing a remarkable win. What a game!

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash who, along with scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world! BYE BYEšŸ‘‹
Most runs scored in the 20th over in a chase:

34 - Kent v Somerset at Canterbury, 10 Jul 2015

31 - Gujarat Titans v Kolkata Knight Riders at Ahmedabad, 9 Apr 2023

30 - Fortune Barishal v Rangpur Riders at Sylhet, This Match, 9 Jan 2025
Nurul Hasan (POTM & Rangpur Riders Captain): "Well you know when I went to the crease, Khushdil told me that we can win the game from here. All thanks to God and I am very happy.

Yeah, you know, obviously we required to keep our focus on the ground. It is still a long way to go and we will be focused for the next game. Still a long way to go in the tournament.

Iftikhar and Khushdil batted really well and added up a crucial partnership. Long way to go for us so hope for the best."
Player of the Match: Nurul Hasan.
Time for the Post-Match Presentation!
Tamim Iqbal (Fortune Barishal Captain): "Great, great, great. Absolutely brilliant game. It’s unfortunate that we came last, but a lot of credit has to go to Nurul Hasan. I thought the way he batted was unbelievable—26 off the last over.

I thought we did pretty well with the bat, especially considering we didn't have a great first two or three overs. I was struggling a bit, but then the way Shanto and Mayers batted was brilliant. I thought the run rate was absolutely fine on this wicket. They batted extremely well, and you have to give it to them.

I thought the whole game was one of those that build tournaments. I’m hurt, but I’m also happy that the tournament is going well. A lot of credit has to go to the groundsmen for the way they’ve prepared the wickets."
Woah Woah Woah! Things have not stopped yet at the stadium. Tamim Iqbal is having a go at the coaching staff of Rangpur Riders. He has been taken away towards the pavilion by his teammates!šŸ‘€
4:48 PM IST & 5:18 PM Local Time| Phew! It's time to catch our breath. What an absolute edge-of-the-thriller we've just witnessed at Sylhet! What a ride it’s been, with both sides giving it their all. A huge round of applause for Nurul Hasan, who led from the front with a captain’s knock and played a pivotal role in ensuring the Rangpur Riders maintain their perfect record this season. What a game!

Earlier in the day, Fortune Barishal began cautiously in the powerplay, but Tamim and Shanto picked up the pace as their innings progressed, stitching together an 81-run opening partnership.

Both openers fell in the 11th over as Kamrul Islam Rabbi made an immediate impact with two wickets in his first over. Kyle Mayers, meanwhile, carried on his fine form from the previous game. He had a huge slice of luck when a schoolboy error from the Riders saw six fielders positioned outside the 30-yard circle, gifting Mayers a crucial reprieve.

The West Indian punished the Rangpur Riders for their mistake, staying unbeaten till the end and top-scoring with a blistering 61* off 29 balls. His explosive innings, combined with impactful cameos from Faheem Ashraf (20 off 6) and Towhid Hridoy (23 off 18), powered Fortune Barishal to an imposing total of 197/5 in their 20 overs. Kamrul Islam Rabbi (2/47) was the standout bowler for the Rangpur Riders.

Chasing a target of 198, Rangpur Riders had a shaky start as Alex Hales fell cheaply to Tanvir Islam. Things worsened when another in-form batter, Saif Hassan, was dismissed for 22. Tawfique Khan (38), who took time to settle, found his rhythm with three big sixes but was eventually removed by Rishad Hossain, leaving the Riders in further trouble.

Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah joined forces in the middle and began to turn the tide for the Riders. Despite the climbing required run rate, the duo played aggressively, keeping their team in the hunt. With 55 runs needed off the final 24 balls and both batters well set, the stage was perfectly poised for a nail-biting finish.

The death overs were full of drama! A controversial moment unfolded when Iftikhar Ahmed was given out caught behind by the TV umpire, raising some eyebrows. The third umpire was again in the spotlight in the 19th over when Nurul Hasan obstructed the field. However, in an unexpected twist, he asked Mahedi Hasan to walk back to the pavilion, adding yet another chapter to the drama.

What a rollercoaster of chaos, but nothing could shake the focus of the skipper, Nurul Hasan! With 26 runs needed off the final 6 balls, the ball was handed to Kyle Mayers. And what followed was pure brilliance—6, 4, 4, 6, 4, 6—Nurul hammered every delivery, sealing the game for the Riders in style. Rangpur Riders continue their perfect season, and what a performance from Nurul Hasan! Take a bow, Riders, and especially the captain. What a match! Stay tuned for the Post-Match Presentation.
