That's all we have for you from this live coverage between Fortune Barishal and Sylhet Strikers. Do join us on 9th January (Thursday) for yet another double header in BPL 2024-25.

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash who, along with scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEπŸ‘‹
Tamim Iqbal (Fortune Barishal Captain): "Oh yeah yeah, this is what we thrive for you know. Massive crowd, fantastic for the tournament. It was not ideal for us playing against the home side but it was our A-game to be honest.

Definitely, Jahandad picked up some crucial wickets for sure but for me the gamechanger was Rishad Hossain. Fantastic stuff and we are backing him. We will continue to back him. There might be games he may not play due to our combinations but he knows we are always behind him.

Ah definitely, Mayers and some other international players will leave in some games but they contributed really well. Towhid as well was fantastic with the bat and I was really happy to see him get some runs under his belt."
Jahandad Khan (Player of the Match): "First of all, I want to thank Almighty Allah. It’s tough to bowl with dew around, but the plan was simple: bowl away from the batters, and it worked. My back of the hand slower one is pretty good and I always try to give my 100% for the team."

Time for the Post-Match Presentation!
Ariful Haque (Sylhet Strikers Captain): "We lost wickets early on, and that made it difficult to score runs. Our top order scored runs but we need a winning moment. When I came to bat, there was a bowler at the other end, so I tried to keep as much of the strike as possible."

8:45 PM IST & 9:15 PM Local Time| Fortune Barishal showcased a dominant performance, comfortably defeating Sylhet Strikers by 7 wickets in a one-sided encounter. It's a tough pill to swallow for the Sylhet Strikers as they succumbed to their second consecutive defeat on their home turf.

Earlier in the day, Tamim Iqbal opted to bowl first without any hesitation with the dew already started to fall during the Toss. Strikers did not get to a good start with the bat as they lost Rony Talukdar for a 3-ball duck. Rahkeem Cornwall (18), Zakir Hasan (25) and George Munsey (28) contributed well but none of them were able to convert it into a big score.

From a steady 76/2, Sylhet Strikers suffered a dramatic collapse, losing 8 wickets for just 49 runs to be bundled out for 125. A dismal batting performance! 3 wickets apiece for Jahandad Khan (3/18) and Rishad Hossain (3/15) as they were the pick of the bowlers for Fortune Barishal. The Tamim Iqbal-led side was set a modest target of 126 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Barishal had a shaky start, losing both openers within two overs, giving Strikers hope for a comeback. However, Kyle Mayers and Towhid Hridoy counterattacked brilliantly, silencing the crowd with their aggressive stroke play and smashing the ball to all parts of the ground.

They added 116 runs for the 3rd-wicket in just 51 balls. Towhid Hridoy was on 48 and was looking to register his half-century, got knocked over by Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Kyle Mayers (59*) remained unbeaten till the end and helped his side over the line. A comprehensive win for the Fortune Barishal who win by 7 wickets! Stay tuned for the Post-Match Presentation.
