So that marks the end of our coverage from another exciting day of the Bangladesh Premier League. Fortune Barishal have defeated Durbar Rajshahi by 7 wickets to register another victory over them.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Arjun Bhalla and our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Good night.
Tamim Iqbal (Player of the Match and Fortune Barishal Captain):"I thought I batted okay. The wicket was good. It was seaming around in the second over and once we settled in, we batted well. When it is too much dew, it gets hard to hit. The ball gets hardened and it doesn't travel much.
We needed the start from Kyle Mayers. I would also tell the way we bowled. Shaheen, Faheem, Tanvir- all were good. This is a small boundary and it is tough for the spinners. 58 yards of boundary is too small. When you have space to make the boundary bigger, why won't you? I hope the BPL authority listens to me."
Player of the Match: Tamim Iqbal
Most Valuable Player of the Match: Shaheen Shah Afridi
Anumul Haque (Durbar Rajshahi Captain): "We didn't have enough runs on the board. They (Fortune Barishal seamers) are very experienced; Shaheen and Faheem are very experienced. I think we were 20-25 runs short.
I think some of the batters got starts. Jeeshan (Alam) got the start, Yasir (Ali) batted very nicely and I started well. If a batter gets to 40, he should convert it into 60 or 65. If we didn't execute our plans with the bat.
Dew also played a part in the game's result. Taskin was having trouble gripping the game, and so were the spinners. But, we were 30 runs short; thus, we were planning a catch-up job in the chase."
9:20 PM IST and 9:50 PM Local Time | Fortune Barishal has shown immense character and eventually won the game by 7 wickets and with 15 balls to go. Skipper Tamim Iqbal led from the front and helped his side to get the victory.
Fortune Barishal won the toss and sent Durbar Rajshahi to bat. Rajshahi got off to a good start as Mohammad Haris and Jishan Alam got a few boundaries early in the innings. Haris got out for 22 off 16 balls with 2 fours and a maximum. Anamul Haque Bijoy joined Jishan and the duo took the score to 60 from the powerplay's 6 overs. Jishan scored 38 from 27 balls before getting out.
After Jishan's dismissal, Durbar Rajshahi got a bit sloppy in their scoring. Anamul and Yasir Ali played a few dot balls and the middle overs were dominated by the Barishal bowlers. Faheem Ashraf, Rishad Hossain kept the run rate checking. Yasir managed to score 38 off 27 balls with 2 fours and 3 maximums. But Anamul had a horrible day as he scored 39 from 35 balls. Ryan Burl and Akbar Ali took the score to 168 from the first innings.
Shaheen Afridi took 2 wickets. Tanvir Islam and Faheem Ashraf took a wicket for the Barishal side.
When Fortune Barishal came to bat, they were off to a slow start. They lost Pritom Chowdhury cheaply for 3. But Kyle Mayers changed the scenario. He hit a few boundaries and then Tamim Iqbal chipped in. Mayers contributed a handy 24 off 11 balls with 3 fours and 2 maximums. Tamim contributed a few boundaries and that led the team score to reach 62 after the end of the powerplay.
Towhid Hridoy struggled a bit but his struggle didn't left a bad effect on his team as Tamim was scoring boundaries at will. The stylish southpaw registered a fifty in just 28 balls. When Hridoy got out, Mushfiqur Rahim joined Tamim, they played shots to accumulate runs quickly. They together took on Hasan Murad and escalated the run rate. Tamim finished unbeaten with 86 off 48 balls with 11 fours and 3 maximums. Mushfiqur Rahim stayed unbeaten on 34 off 24 balls with 4 fours and a maximum.
Mohor Sheikh took a brace of wickets for the Durbar Rajshahi team. Jishan Alam chipped in with a wicket.
