So, that also brings an end to our coverage of the semi final 2 between India A and Afghanistan A. For now, this is me Hiren Kumar signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Saptak, Sourmaya Dutta and scorers/analysts Suresh Kumawat and Chandan Kr Singh. Do join us for the finale which is scheduled on Sunday. CHEERS!!!
Sediqullah Atal (Player of the Match, Afghanistan A)- "I'm grateful for this performance against the mighty India A side. In the powerplay I planned to play some attacking stroke and take the initiative. Post powerplay we rotated the strike well. Zubaid Akbari played really well and it aided me in a big way. I will try my best to keep things simple in the final. We played the same way in the group stages."
Darwish Rasooli (Afghanistan A Captain): "Firstly, congrats to the nation and the boys. It is a big thing to win against India A. It was a plan to bat first after winning the toss and trust the bowlers and fielders. Very happy with the way our batters batted. We will look to go with the same momentum in the final as well. Thank you."
Tilak Varma (India A Captain)- The credit goes to Afghanistan and their openers did really well. We will need to learn from our mistakes with the ball. I felt that 170 would have been chasable. Unfortunately we didn't win the toss. We wanted to bat first since the wicket was about to get slower later on. The way we batted in the powerplay throughout the tournament has been a big takeaway. It was a great platform for the youngsters and it was an excellent learning curve for us.
Welcome to the post match presentation.
Its Sri Lanka A vs Afghanistan A in the final of ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.
10:33 PM IST & 9:03 PM Local Time | ALL OVER! Afghanistan A beat India A by 20 runs and stride into the final of the ACC Men's T20 Emerging Asia Cup 2024 and will now face Sri Lanka A. They were spot on with both bat and ball and dominated the game in all the departments. The Afghan dug out is pumped up and why not. Here is how the Semi Final 2 panned out. Opting to bat first, Afghanistan A came all guns blazing and put up a massive partnership of 137 runs. Zubaid Akbari and Sediqullah Atal were outstanding at the top and scored 64 and 83 runs respectively. Karim Jannat was promoted up the order tonight at 3 and played a breezy knock of 41 off just 20 balls which helped them cross the 200 run mark. With the ball, India A struggled tonight and failed to pick up wickets at regular intervals. Rasikh Salam was the only economical bowler for them and ended with the figures of 3/25 in his 4 overs. Rahul Chahar was again expensive in the middle overs and his poor form continues. Coming to the chase, Afghanistan A had the momentum with them and they never let the India A batters settle and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. Mohammad Ghazanfar was brilliant with the new ball and dismissed the dangerous duo of Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh cheaply. Abdul Rahman and Sharfuddin Ashraf also bowled decently and picked up 2 and 1 wickets respectively. With the bat, India A again struggled and failed to build up partnerships. The top order was dismissed cheaply. It was Ramandeep Singh who played like a lone warrior and kept his side alive till the end. He played a brilliant knock of 64 off just 34 balls. Nishant Sidhu was also impressive and scored 23 off 13 and was unfortunate to get runout in the end. Stay tuned for the post match presentations.
