Milestone
That's it from us from the Group B game of India A vs UAE where India A defeated the opposition to become the first team to qualify for the semifinal. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Hiren Kumar and Arijit Kundu and our scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. Good night.
Rasikh Salam (Player of the Match): "Yes, its been good for me so far. I knew the batters would go hard inside the powerplay and I bowled accordingly. We prepare for all the situations. The senior team has set high standards and we want to carry that."
Player of the Match - Rasikh Salam
Tilak Varma(India A Captain): "Absolutely the bowlers bowled well. Rasikh Salam to mention specially. Everyone has done well for us. There's a lot of hardwork behind the scenes. The standards are set high and we are doing everyday to maintain that. Guys work hard even in the off days. Last match Ramandeep took a great catch and today Badoni pulled out a stunner. (On giving opportunity to the others) Yes, as we have qualified for the semifinals, we would talk to the management about giving the opportunity to the rest of the guys. You don't know who steps up when?"
Bisal Hameed (UAE Captain): "I think it was a tough outing. We had a bad start with the bat. Me and Rahul could have batted a bit longer. The Indian team have a lot of exposure. Most of them have played the IPL. I think the plan was to give a tough time and not let them chase easily. A couple more wickets could have changed the story. You never know what can happen."
Welcome to the post match presentations.
9:29 PM IST and 7:59 PM Local Time | India A have got a very easy victory over UAE and remains at the top of the points table with a massive boost in the run rate. UAE skipper Basil Hameed decided to bat first after winning the toss and Indian bowlers started dominating right from the word go. Anshul Kamboj took a wicket in the first over although he conceded 11 runs. Rasikh Salam came to bowl the final over before the powerplay and scalped 3 wickets with his hit the deck bowling. UAE was reduced to 40 for 5 after the first 6 overs. After that Rahul Chopra and skipper Basil Hameed put 41 runs on the board together to give the bowlers some resources to defend. Hameed scored 22 and once he was dismissed by Abhishek Sharma, it was all down to Rahul. Rahul Chopra scored a fine fifty and it was instrumental for UAE to reach the 100 run mark. He eventually got out for a run-a-ball 50 hitting 2 fours and 3 maximums and UAE got bundled out for 107. For India A, Rasikh Dar took 3 wickets while Ramandeep Singh bowled only 2 overs to take 2 wickets for 7 runs. Abhishek Sharma, Anshul Kamboj, Vaibhav Arora chipped in with one wicket each. Coming to chase the run, India A lost Prabhsimran Singh for 8 in the first over as Omid Rehman got better of him. But Abhishek Sharma did his natural job of going berserk at the bowlers. He got the assistance from Tilak Varma, the skipper who scored 21 from 18 balls. Abhishek took on every single UAE bowler to score 58 from 24 balls with 6 fours and 4 boundaries. His innings helped India A to cruise through and get the victory early and boost the net run rate. After his departure, Ayush Badoni and Nehal Wadhera pulled the chase off safely. India A has won the game by 7 wickets and with 55 balls remaining. For UAE, Omid Rehman, Vishnu Sukumaran and Mohammad Farooq took one wicket each.
