Time to conclude our coverage from the group A encounter of the Emerging Asia Cup between Bangladesh A and Afghanistan A. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Hiren Kumar and our scorer/analyst Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. Don't go anywhere. Follow our exclusive coverage of the Women's T20 World Cup final. Good night from us!
Sediqullah Atal (Player of the Match): "First of all, I am very thankful to the almighty. It was not an easy wicket as it looked like. Our team managed pretty well. I was clear in my mind that I need to stay till the end. I targeted the left arm spinner initially. I see the ball and hit them. (Gives a special message to his country and family in his native language).
Player of the Match - Sediqullah Atal.
Darwish Rasooli (Afghanistan A Captain): "Congrats to the team and our Nation. Sediqullah Atal was brilliant for us and finished the game. Yes, they started well but recovered pretty well in the middle. They batted well in the death and it will be a good learning for the upcoming games. Thank you."
Akbar Ali (Bangladesh A Captain): "It was a wonderful game of cricket. There are a lot things you can look back and think about. We need sit down and plan ahead. To be honest, it was a par score on this wicket and I knew it was not going to be easy for chase. Atal played brilliantly for them. As I said, we need sit and analyze things. Death bowling is something we need to work on. Thank you."
Time for the post-match presentations.
10:21 PM IST and 08:51 PM Local Time | Afghanistan A secured a victory as Sediqullah Atal finished the game in style with a maximum. He scored 95 of 165 team runs and has been an absolute game changer for his side. Coming to bat first in the run chase losing the toss, Bangladesh got off to a flying start thanks to Parvez Hossain Emon. Although he lost his opening partner Jishan Alam cheaply and Saif Hassan struggled for a long period, his batting prowess helped the Bangladesh side to board runs quickly. aif got out for 16 but Emon managed to score a fine fifty. Emon decorated his innings with 4 boundaries and as many as sixes to score 54 off 32 balls before getting perished. Akbar Ali came in the middle but his innings didn't sustain as he got out for a paltry 4 run. Bangladeshi side was reduced to 94 for 4 at one stage and Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain Patwari pair stepped up. They remained unbeaten in their partnership adding 70 runs and they together added 56 runs from the final 5 overs. Hridoy initially took on the spinners and Shamim replicated his effort later against the pacers. The Bogura boy Hridoy remained unbeaten on 42 from 31 balls and Shamim scored 38 off 24 balls. For Afghanistan A side, Qais Ahmad, Bilal Sami, Sharafuddin Ashraf and Karim Janat took one wicket each. Coming to chase the run, Afghanistan A side was in dire straits losing two wickets in a quick succession. Zubaid Akbari got out scoring 16 from 8 balls with 2 fours and a maximum but Aliss removed him. Skipper Darwish Rasooli tried to be over aggressive and lost his off stump on 5. Sediqullah Atal, the player of the match of the last match, stepped up. He hit a few boundaries but saw Karim Janat falling for a cheap score and Shahidullah Kamal struggling at the other end. Kamal scored 19 facing 22 balls and that hurt his team. Atal however got the going with wicketkeeper Mohammad Ishaq. Together the duo timed the loose balls well and respected the good balls. They put up 38 for the fifth wicket before Ishaq got out for 10. Sediqullah Atal took 16 from Abu Hider Rony's 3rd over which was the 18th over of the innings. Including a wide, 17 from that over meant Afghanistan needed 16 from the final 2 overs, the job was much easier. Atal got out in the penultimate over but it was called a no-ball as it was above waist. He hit a boundary later in the over and made the chase easier for his team. Atal finished the game with a maximum hitting Abu Hider Rony over widish long off. Atal remained unbeaten on 95 from 55 balls with 9 boundaries and 5 maximums. For Bangladesh A, Ripon Mondol took 2 wickets for 26 runs. Aliss Al Islam took 2 wickets for 29 runs. Abu Hider Rony and Shamim Hosain Patwari chipped in with one wicket each. Stay tuned for the post-match presentations.
