That's all we have for you from the ODI series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh from Sharjah. Yet another ODI series victory for Afghanistan at Home! For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit who, along with scorer/analyst Raju Khariya brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. CHEERS!
The Trophy has been handed over to the Afghanistan Skipper, Hashmatullah Shahidi who joins his teammates for the photoshoots. The celebrations begin as Afghanistan win the ODI Series 2-1 against Bangladesh.
Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain): "First of all I am very happy for my team, we played really well and I am proud of my team. Yeah, honestly when we lost the toss we were disappointed to be honest because you know batting will become difficult in the second innings as the ball will turn a lot but the way our boys played, took responsibility and finished of the game. Kudos to Azmatullah, Gurbaz and Nabi with the way they batted today. I am just proud of them. (On Rahmanullah Gurbaz) I think he is the match winner player for us. He steps up in important games, takes responsibility and I am very happy for him. He is very talented and I hope he takes the momentum to the upcoming series and also to the Champions Trophy. Well like I told you, I am proud of my team and we will try to make our team more stronger. We have Zimbabwe next and we will look to go with a positive momentum to the Champions Trophy."
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Bangladesh Captain): "Yeah definitely it was a tough job. The guys did a good job. Like I said before, me and Riyad bhai had a good partnership but it was tough to bowl in this wicket. Yeah, the wicket played well. We saw in the last two games that the ball was turning in the second innings so that's why we wanted to bat first. The wicket was got for batting but the dew became crucial in the run chase. Credit to them, especially Gurbaz and Omarzai batted really well. We failed to pick wickets in the middle overs and that's why we lost the game. (On Nahid Rana) Yes definitely, he has got some serious pace and he is playing well. Yeah definitely, we played good cricket here and we have learned a lot from this series. We have an important series coming up against West Indies so it's definitely tough for everyone."
Mohammad Nabi (Player of the Series): "Yes, I had that thing in my mind of retirement since the last ODI World Cup but we qualified for the Champions Trophy now so I think if we play one Champions Trophy, it will be better for me. Well I just provide small small contributions in the dressing room. I try to help the youngsters especially Ghazanfar, it will help him a lot and I am always there for the youngsters. No, in the last series against South Africa, I did not do well with the bat. I worked harder and wanted to do better with the bat in this series. Really happy to perform well for my team. Yeah, I just spoke with Omarzai that just look for singles. Watch the ball closely and the boundary will come."
Player of the Series: Mohammad Nabi
Azmatullah Omarzai (Player of the Match): "Yeah, it was tough for me to comeback after two bad games with the bat in the previous two games. I tried to remain calm and positive, backed myself and it worked out well for me. Yeah, Gurbaz was there at the middle so I was calm. I knew, if I eat up few dot balls, Gurbaz is there on the other end to cover it up for me. So I was calm and if I get any loose deliveries, I wanted to put it away. Wicket was really slow, I was trying variations. I spoke to Rashid and he told me to mix it up so it worked out well. I was tough for me. I never bowled in the death overs. First time for me and it worked out really well. (On his first POTM award) It means a lot to me as its my first Man of the Match award in my four year career and I am thankful to the almighty."
Player of the Match: Azmatullah Omarzai
