8:50 AM IST and 10:20 PM Local Time: History created by Nepal in Dallas as they whitewash the hosts, USA, in a three-match T20I series! The Rohit Paudel-led side bashed the Monank Patel-led side and wrapped up the series with an eight-wicket victory with eight balls in hand! This is the first time Nepal have managed to clean-sweep any opponents in their cricketing history!
Earlier in the match, USA won the toss and opted to bat first on the pitch, which was used for the third time in a row. Opener Saiteja Mukkamalla held an end up, despite losing a couple of big wickets early on in the powerplay. Mukkamalla slowly started to up the ante but lost the struggling Aaron Jones (13 off 16) in the eighth over, with the scoreboard reading 55/3.
The right-handed opener was then joined by Milind Kumar (43* off 35), and the duo rebuilt with a 76-run fourth-wicket stand. Mukkamalla (68 off 51) was on top of his game, scoring an excellent half-century, but was taken care of by Sompal Kami in the 18th over. Shayan Jahangir (9 off 7) and Harmeet Singh (10* off 3) hit a few useful runs in the end to take the team’s score past 150.
For Nepal, Kami (3/27) was again the pick of the bowlers, finishing with a three-wicket haul, while Rijan Dhakal (1/23) and Lalit Rajbanshi (1/23) picked up a wicket each.
Nepal openers - Anil Sah and Aasif Sheikh - came out all guns blazing, adding 33 for the first wicket in a quick time. They smashed 16 runs in the fourth over, delivered by Juanoy Drysdale, in an over in which Jasdeep Singh also dropped the catch of Anil. Jasdeep redeemed himself in the very next over as he trapped Anil (13 off 11) in front of the stumps in the first ball of his spell. Aasif continued his merry way and was joined by Kushal Bhurtel, adding exactly 50 runs for the second wicket.
Aasif Sheikh (50 off 39) scored a vibrant half-century and was out on the first ball after drinks, with Juanoy Drysdale providing a much-needed breakthrough for USA. But two Kushal's - Bhurtel (40* off 32) and Malla (44* off 30) - made sure that there were no further hiccups for the Rhinos and added an unbeaten match-winning third-wicket stand of 74 runs.
