00:43 AM IST & 9:13 PM Local Time| A comprehensive victory for NY Lagos Strikers who have defeated Cape Town Samp Army by 42 runs. For the first time in the tournament so far, all the three teams who have batted first today, have gone onto win the game!
Earlier in the day, Thisara Perera won the toss and opted to bat first without any hesitation. It turned out to be a brilliant decision as the two openers of the NY Lagos Strikers got them of to a cracking start.
The pair of Rassie van der Dussen (51 off 21) and Avishka Fernando (66 off 27) added 122 runs together for the Opening partnership. The ball was travelling all over the park and the Cape Town Samp Army bowlers were struggling to break the partnership.
Enough damage was done by the two openers to take them to a comprehensive total. Skipper Thisara Perera played a quick cameo at the end as NY Lagos Strikers finish off with 148/2 from their 10 overs. Salman Irshad (2/21) was the only wicket taker in the Innings for the Cape Town Samp.
In reply, the Samp Army openers did not get them off to a flying start. Oshane Thomas picked up two wickets in an over and the asking rate was climbing up as the game progressed. Brian Bennett with an unbeaten score of 40 but he struggled at the middle with his timing while Jack Taylor's quickfire Innings of 37 off 18 deliveries did not last long.
Thisara Perera marshalled his troops really well as they defended the target comfortably. Oshane Thomas (2/27) was the pick of the bowlers for NY Lagos Strikers. So it was Thisara Perera-led side who won this fixture by 42 runs.
