Opting to bat first, the Gujarat Giants struggled to get going and managed to post up just 123 runs on the board. Skipper Dhawan did score 38 runs but was slow in his approach and did not look at his best. Apart from him, no other batter managed to cross the 20-run mark. Asghar Afghan did hit 2 biggies in the backend but was soon dismissed for 18.
With the ball, the Southern Super Stars were top notch and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. Subodh Bhati was the pick of the bowlers for them and picked up 2 wickets in his 3 over spell. Hamid Hassan, Abdur Razzak and Pawan Negi also bowled well and picked up a wicket each to their name.
Coming to the chase, the Gujarat Giants did manage to pick up an early wicket but were expensive post that and kept leaking runs. Manan Sharma and Samar Quadri were the only wicket takers and picked up a wicket each to their name.
With the bat, the Stars looked pretty comfortable chasing down this low total and completely outplayed the Gujarat Greats. The impact player Hamilton Mazakadza was brilliant at the top and played a match winning knock of 41 off just 27 balls.
Skipper Shreevats Goswami was also brilliant in the middle and remained unbeaten on 47*. He was well assisted by Pawan Negi in the middle order who scored 19* off 15. So, the Stars continue to dominate the points table.
