That is the coverage of the Match No. 3 of Canada T20 Tri-Series 2024 between Canada and Oman.
For now, this is me Aditya Agarwal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Pritam Dey who, alongside our scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur brought you all the live action of this fixture. We will meet again. Until then, cheers!
Aqib Ilyas Sulehri (Player of the Match & Oman Captain):"Yeah every win is very important, in this league facing the associate teams, we always had to come out hard and play positively.
The confidence was lacking before this tournament but I hope it will turn out to go on our favor now.
I think I spoke to the batters that just spend time at the middle and play your strokes. You need to have the right mentality, the time will definitely come for you.
Yeah obviously, fielding is really important as well. Everyday you can improve in this department, one good effort can change the complexion of the game. Today we did well and we still would like to improve a lot in our fielding standards.
Yeah we have to finish on a high note, we did not play well in the ODIs but we want to finish at the top in this tournament. We have many more tournaments coming up after this so we have to go with a positive mindset moving from here."
Player of the Match : Aqib Ilyas Sulehri
Nicholas Kirton (Canada Captain): "Yeah I think with the bat, we did not get enough runs on the board and we kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
Obviously as I said, losing two wickets in the first over doesn't help at all. I tried to take it deeper but none of us clicked at the middle with the bat.
No I dont think I can blame the bowlers because the performance overall was not promising for us. Learn from this game and comeback hard tomorrow. Credit goes to Aqib he played really well."
Time for the Post Match Presentations.
00:31 AM IST & 3:01 PM Local Time| A dominating overall performance by Oman as they have defeated Canada by 8 wickets and with 30 balls to spare in the 3rd encounter of the Canada T20 Tri-Series 2024.
Earlier in the day, Canada were put into bat by Aqib Ilyas Sulehri. It was a dream start for Oman as Canada lost 2 wickets in the first over itself without opening their account.
None of the Canada batters could cross the 20-run mark as Skipper, Nicholas Kirton (18) was the top scorer in the Innings. Wickets were falling like a pack of cards as Canada were bundled out for 106.
2 wickets apiece for Kaleemullah (2/17), Fayyaz Butt (2/21) and Skipper, Aqib Ilyas Sulehri (2/20). So the target for Oman was 107 in their 20 overs.
In reply, the Oman openers got themselves off to a flying start with the bat. Skipper, Aqib Ilyas Sulehri lead from the front along with Kashyap Prajapati as the pair added 35 runs together at the top of the order.
Kashyap Prajapati who is desperately searching for runs was sent back to the pavilion by Dillon Heyliger for 13. The 2nd wicket partnership between Aqib Ilyas Sulehri and Shoaib Khan added 64 runs together and it was a matching winning partnership.
Aqib Ilyas Sulehri (53) was dismissed because of a slight mix up with his partner. Shoaib Khan (30* off 31) remained unbeaten at the middle as Oman have won this encounter by 8 wickets.
FIVE WIDES and that should be the game!
15.1 D Bajwa to S Khan
4wd 5 WIDES AND THAT'S IT!! Oman win by 8 wickets with 30 balls to spare. Dilpreet bowls a wayward delivery angling down leg, keeper fails to collect it and the ball races away to the fence. A clinical performance by the Oman side!
