Oh, what drama in Centurion! DSG won the toss and opted to bowl first with some rain around. It started to rain just after the toss took place. Plenty of rain, and it was only going one way. Some hope rose when the rain stopped, and there was a call for a five-over per-side contest right at the stroke of the cut-off time.
Maharaj seemed unhappy with the call and intensely chatted with the officials and the Pretoria Capitals' skipper. Eventually, a support staff member of the Capitals slipped on the damp outfield, and fortunately for him, there was no injury. Rahmanullah Gurbaz had a slight injury scare and got treatment from the physio. Maharaj wasted no time to raise the concern, and Rossouw agreed to share the points, with both skippers put the safety of the players in front.
"After further inspection by the match officials, conditions have not improved sufficiently for a match to take place. The match is abandoned as a no-result" - SA20 OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE BIG SCREEN AT SUPERSPORT PARK.
Both teams get two points each. DSG climbed to the top of the table with 6 points, and PC are in fifth place with only 2 points.
For now, this is me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav, who brought you all the live updates of this rain-hit game. There are plenty of actions that will follow on our network and don't forget to switch tabs. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
9:50 PM IST and 6:20 PM Local Time: Massive chat between the match officials and two captains. Keshav Maharaj and Rilee Rossouw seem unhappy by the looks of it. DSG don't look too happy and looks as if they don't want to play the game. Pretoria Capitals are going hard with the practice. OH MY WORD! Captains shake hands! MATCH ABANDONED AFTER IT WAS SET FOR A FIVE-OVER GAME! Both teams share points!

9:36 PM IST and 6:06 PM Local Time: Good news, folks! We have a match on our hands. It will be a five-over-per-side contest starting at 10:06 PM IST and 6:36 PM Local Time. All the covers have been removed.
9:22 PM IST and 5:54 PM Local Time: The cover from the main pitch has been removed. The stumps have been erected. The covers remain from the bowler's run-up areas and squares. The umpires, head groundsmen and the match referee are having a discussion.
Marques Ackerman: "Thank you! The baby is doing well at home. Unfortunately, I have to leave my wife and child behind at home.
Rilee is a good captain. I think Trott is just stressing about what works for you. Playing and executing according to your strengths.
You are putting me on the line. I am looking forward to facing Keshav Maharaj today. I am used to facing Maharaj in the nets as we play for the same domestic teams.
Yeah, you (Nikhil) are obviously taller than me. The length balls become short balls as my height is shorter. Nobody likes to face bouncers. In T20 cricket, you have only one bouncer. That is alright."
Keshav Maharaj: "We had a lot of chatting in the dressing room, watched the highlights of the previous game and had a lot of coffee. We tried to stay with the cricket, and it's important to be switched on.
Let us see what the match officials have to say. The groundsmen will take a call along the the match referee and the relevant officials.
Such is the nature of the tournament. We need to be ready to play back-to-back games.
Obviously, we have enough guys in the squad. There will be fatigue around with this type of long tournament. We need everyone to be ready whenever called up to play. We need to keep the energy going."
Nikhil Uttamchandani (Ground Report): "Good news is that the sky is clearing up. DSG players are having a warm-up with the football. Wiaan Mulder has just lost that game and is getting the punishment (chuckles).
A few droplets are still falling, and dark clouds are looming from the northwest. The outfield is still wet, but the drainage is excellent, with 100s of holes soaking water underneath the outfield.
Keshav Maharaj is having a chat with umpire Erasmus. The covers are still on because of a couple of rain droplets sprinkling. I still hope that we are going to have some game later on."
9:01 PM IST and 5:31 PM Local Time: Good news, folks! The rain has finally stopped at SuperSport Park. The groundsmen are quick to get to the middle and begin the mopping work. Super Sopper is moving around and soaking the water on the outfield. Plenty of work to do.
Match officials are out in the middle and are having a chat. The players have started their warm-ups. DSG skipper Keshav Maharaj is looking at the outfield and has a chat with the match-officials.
