Player of the Match - Muhammad Waseem
21:00 PM IST and 05:30 PM Local Time| UAE triumph over Namibia as they win by a margin of 40 runs after amassing their highest ever score in T20Is of 245 runs in the first innings.
Here's a review of what happened in the match.
Earlier, Namibia won the toss and put UAE to bat first. Batting first , UAE openers got off to a rollicking start thanks to their power-packed opening duo of Muhammad Waseem and Alishan Sharafu, they scored 72 runs after the end of the powerplay. Both the batters continued their onslaught and went on to put up a massive 130 runs stand for the first wicket. Alishan Sharafu got out on 73 after facing 33 balls.
Muhammad Waseem then took the onus on himself and batted till the end, and with cameos from Asif Khan (39 off 22) and Basil Hameed (37 off 15) powered UAE to a daunting score of 245/2.
Gerhard Erasmus was the only bowler from UAE who impressed with his bowling, he bagged 2 wickets as well in his spell.
Chasing 246, Namibia got off to a steady start as their openers put up 39 runs for the first wicket. Jean Pierre Kotze then combined with Nicol Loftie-Eaton and put up a quickfire 65 run stand for the second wicket to keep Namibia at bay.
Gerhard Erasmus and JJ Smit put up a quickfire 64 run stand for their side for 4th wicket. But the target was way behind from their sight. Jawadullah Khan then bagged 2 back to back wickets in 16th over to put them on backfoot. Namibia never recovered from it and in the end fell short of the target by 40 runs.
Basil Hameed, Ali Naseer and Jawadullah Khan bagged 2 wickets apiece from the UAE side.
