Player of the Match: Saad Bin Zafar
This is Canadaβs first victory under the newly appointed skipper, Nicholas Kirton.
8:50 PM IST, 5:20 PM Local Time: Canada win a low scoring thriller to register their first win in the triangular series as the hosts Netherlands failed to chase a modest total of 133 after winning the toss and electing to bowl first.
The Dutch bowlers did well to restrict Canada down to 35/6 at one stage but identical knocks of 33 each from Shreyas Movva and Saad Bin Zafar (also unbeaten) helped the visitors to put up a defendable total of 132/9 in 20 overs.
Netherlands lost opener Max O'Dowd early in the chase for a duck with Vikramjit Singh (22 off 19) and Michael Levitt (13 off 20) adding 36 for the 2nd wicket.
Vikramjit was unfortunately run out right after the powerplay and with the introduction of spinners, the Dutch line up could never score at the brisk pace set by the number 3 batter.
Praveen Kumar (2/10) was the pick of the bowlers bowling a maiden as well in his 4 over spell. Kaleem Sana was tidy at the start and picked up 2 wickets in the death to finish with 2/23. Saad Bin Zafar used his experience to contain the scoring bowling a spell of 1/15 with a maiden.
Noah Croes at number 6 top scored with 32 in 28 balls but failed to build partnerships with the lower order batters. He however managed to add 37 runs to the score with Ryan Klein (22) for the 6th wicket and hit a four and a maximum in the final over to bring the equation down from 27 in 6 to 15 in 3 but eventually was run out on the 4th ball of the final over.
