Shubhang Hedge and Suraj Ahuja pull a rabbit out of the hat to chase down the highest total of the season! Bengaluru Blasters defeat Shivamogga Lions by 6 wickets to prove why they are the table toppers! Biggest team total chased in Maharaja Trophy history and that too in just 19 overs!
Bengaluru Blasters won the toss and elected to bowl first, and on the back on of twin half-centuries from Bangalore Anand Mohith (56 runs off 38 balls) and Abhinav Manohar's unbeaten 59 runs off 24 balls, along with a massive 108 run-stand with Rohan Naveen, Shivamogga Lions registered the highest total of the season with 227/5 at the end of their 20 overs. The innings saw 18 MAXIMUMs being hit!
Come the chase, Mayank Agarwal provided the initial flurry for Bengaluru Blasters but he eventually fell for 33 runs from 17 balls, and that left his team reeling at 59/4 at one stage. However, Shubhang Hegde and Suraj Ahuja had other ideas.
The pair forged together a brilliant unbeaten 169 run partnership for the 5th wicket. Suraj Ahuja played a gem of a knock with unbeaten 82 runs off 38 balls. While, Hegde provided much needed support at the other end with unbeaten 85 runs off 41 balls. Eventually, the pair registered the highest partnership ever in Maharaja Trophy history to chase down the highest first innings total of the season!
Absolute brilliant display of batting prowess in both innings and unlucky for Shivamogga Lions to lose this encounter, they deserved to win this too but there can be only 1 winner and today it was Bengaluru Blasters!
