The captains pose with the trophy signifying that it is shared at the end of this series!
Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Captain): "Our players have been playing good cricket in both the formats. We have had six newcomers. Trying to introduce youngsters. There are some areas to improve but as a captain, I am really proud of them. In the ODIs, we struggled but we adjusted and did better in this series. Today again, unfamiliar conditions for us. Yeah, we have been playing good cricket in T20Is over the last 12-15 months but the 50-over World Cup is coming up, so we have to bounce back. We have a couple of weeks break after which we have to come back and focus on areas where we have to improve."
Suzie Bates (New Zealand Women Captain): "Unfortunately, I thought we would get a game here, we had a positive start with the bat but it's such a shame to not get a result in a series decider, it is important for this young group.
Bree Illing, upfront with the ball and bowling to some of the best batters and Izzy Sharp, her contribution has been massive too. Excited about the future and with Polly behind the stumps, she is adding more depth to our squad.
I'm loving it, the crowd turning out for the games, it's such a good profile for cricket in the country. We still have world class players like Kerr coming back soon for the Aussie series."
Chamari Athapaththu (Player of the Series):"Yeah I am happy with the T20I series but disappointed about the 50-over series. I just changed the plan and played positive cricket in T20Is. Happy about my performance and the team's performance in this series. Good wicket to bat, if we could have played today, it would have been a good experience. Unfortunately, we couldn't get to complete the match. Last five years, I have been bowling more since a lot of experienced players retired. My main target is with the bat."
Player of the Series: Chamari Athapaththu
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony..
5:41 AM IST, 1:11 PM Local Time | Bad news folks! The rain has persisted and the umpires have decided to call off the match! The series ends in a 1-1 draw.
A rain-curtailed encounter where we saw only 14.1 overs of play with New Zealand Women putting up 101/3 but there was no chase to be held, as a third rain interruption meant the second innings was wiped out!
