The long and thrilling season boils down to this one epic clash! The Hobart Hurricanes, playing in front of their home crowd at the Ninja Stadium, will take on the Sydney Thunder, who are brimming with confidence after their impressive win at the SCG! Mark your calendars for Monday, 27th January—it's going to be an electrifying Grand Finale!

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide who, along with scorer/analyst Paras Yadav brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world! BYE BYE👋
Chris Green (Sydney Thunder): "Yeah it has been a long time for us. The belief was there for us. We are enjoying each other's company and everyone is feeling really good. Just cant wait for Monday now.

Yeah it is the beauty of the game. A knockout game and you always want to win every single game you play.

(On that 6 by Sam Billings) Oh Outstanding. When I was there I had a chat with Billings that we wanted to take the game deep and then take the Power Surge. Unfortunately I got out but we knew Sam is there and his experience was the key for us.

We bowled really really well to restrict them to 150. Credit to the boys as they played really well and as a unit we have done a great job so far.

(On facing Hobart in the Final) Well I didn't look too far ahead but now I think I should. Hobart have been brilliant this season. It is going to be a tough match but we will be ready."
Sam Billings (Player of the Match): "Yeah, it was brilliant. Great performance. Don't think we played our perfect game but it sets up nicely for Monday. We did well in the powerplay. It set the tone which helped us get through.

The great thing is that we have played two finals in two days in different conditions. It's a one-off game. We have enough experience to calm the young guys. But in the finals, you can see the youngsters strive. So, really looking forward to it.

Let's be honest, well done to him (David Warner). He's infectious and brings the energy to the group. As an Englishman saying this will raise some eyebrows back at home but he has led from the front. He has been solid at the top for us. We will be playing arguably the best team in the tournament at their home and that's why you play the game for. Really looking forward to the final."

5:02 PM IST & 10:32 PM Local Time| What a sensational finish at the SCG! The Sydney Thunder have risen to the occasion, getting the better of their arch-rivals in style. More importantly, they’ve etched their name in BBL history by securing their place in the Final for just the second time! The grand stage is set—Hurricanes vs Thunder in what promises to be an electrifying finale to the BBL 2024-25. The Sydney Thunder have defeated the Sydney Sixers for the first time in 4 Years!

Earlier, David Warner won the toss and opted to field, putting the Sydney Sixers in to bat. The Thunder were spot on from the very first ball, both with their bowling and fielding. The Sixers managed to score just 23 runs in the powerplay, losing both their openers in the process.

The Sixers struggled to form any significant partnerships, finding themselves in deep trouble at 76 for 5. As usual, it was Jordan Silk who stepped up for the Men in Magenta, anchoring the innings and remaining unbeaten. Silk, along with Dwarshuis, came to the rescue, adding a crucial 56 runs off 34 balls for the sixth wicket.

The Sixers couldn't capitalize on the Power Surge, as the Thunder bowlers executed their plans perfectly in the death overs, limiting the Sydney Sixers to 151/7. On a good batting wicket, it seemed like the Sixers were 15-20 runs short of a competitive total.

Jordan Silk was the standout performer for the Sixers, scoring an unbeaten 43 off 30 balls. For the Thunder, Wes Agar (2/25) and Tom Andrews (2/15) were the key bowlers. So the target for the Sydney Thunder was 152!

In reply, the Sydney Thunder came out all guns blazing. Jason Sangha set the tone by smashing three boundaries in the very first over, while skipper David Warner opened his account with a towering six.

Warner's over-aggressiveness cost him his wicket for just 11 runs during the powerplay. Sangha and Gilkes then put together a 36-run partnership for the second wicket. However, Sangha's untimely dismissal against the run of play gave the Sixers a glimmer of hope for a comeback.

Sam Billings was crucial for the Thunder, needing to stay till the end to guide them home. Alongside Chris Green, the two seasoned players settled in and took command of the chase, steering the Thunder towards their target.

Despite the quick dismissals of Green and Garton, Billings remained resolute at the crease.  The Thunder took the Power Surge in the 18th over and successfully chased down the target. It was a commanding 4-wicket victory for the Sydney Thunder, with Sam Billings delivering a match-winning performance, scoring an unbeaten 42 off 29 balls.
