A thriller of a Knockout Fixture comes to an end. Melbourne Stars put themselves under pressure and went downhill to surrender to the David Warner-led Sydney Thunder in an enthralling 19-over per side game. The Thunder will travel across the town to face Sydney Sixers at SCG in yet another round of Sydney Smash, but this time, it's the do-or-die fixture as the winner will go to the final, and the loser will go home.
For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators, Akshay Bhide and Pritam Dey, who, along with our scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi brought you all the live-action of this mouth-watering game. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!

Nathan McAndrew (Player of the Match): βThanks mate. A bit of a bowling-freindly wicket. We held our nerves and the spinners bowled beautifully in the middle overs. Great to get the win.
(On the crowd) It was buzzing. It was too loud that we couldnβt hear the nick. The fans have been behind us for a number of years now and it was great to get the home final. We love playing here and it was incredible. Hopefully, weβll get two more wins.
We knew the total was defendable. But the early wickets were very crucial. We knew the powerplay was going to be a dangerous period and we did well to keep the run rate in check and get some wickets. It fell away pretty quickly.
Warner has been incredible over here. He is loving his time with us. He is pulling everyone. Hopefully, we will keep him young and keep him going for a few more years.β

5:33 PM IST and 10:03 PM Local Time: Sydney Thunder burst at the right time and halt Melbourne Stars' dream run in 2025 to stay alive in the competition for yet another day! The Stars came to this game after five consecutive wins but faltered at the wrong time!
Earlier in the game, Melbourne Stars opted to bowl first and got rid of David Warner for a silver duck, but soon, the match was paused due to lightning, with the fixture being reduced to 19-over per side. Matthew Gilkes, Sam Billings and Ollie Davies hit useful knocks as they got starts but failed to convert, playing into the Stars' hands. The host lost wickets at regular intervals at the closing stage of the innings and could post only 135/7 in 19 overs.
For the Stars, Tom Curran and Usama Mir grabbed two wickets each, while Peter Siddle, Marcus Stoinis and Doug Warren scalped one each.
The Stars lost their top order cheaply yet again before Glenn Maxwell continued his stunning hitting form, smashing a 21-ball 28. Maxi had Marcus Stoinis at the other end, who was struggling to score freely. Once the partnership was broken, with Green ending Stoinis' struggles, Melbourne Stars went downhill.
Hilton Cartwright and Mark Steketee tried to keep the Stars' chances alive with a few boundaries, but in the end, it was a little too far a bridge for the visitors to cross.
Nathan McAndrew was the star of the show for the Thunder as the seamer snapped a terrific five-fer, conceding only 16 runs in his four overs and helping the Lime Green Army to knock over the tourists to just 114 in 18 overs. Tanveer Sangha, who dismissed Maxwell and Tom Curran in successive deliveries, finished with a two-fer, along with fellow spinner Tom Andrew. Green picked up another big wicket, and a dominating bowling performance helped the Thunder to defend a low score and win the thrilling Knockout by 21 runs.
