Milestone
The most anticipated Sydney Smash between the Sixers and the Thunder has No Result! Both teams share a point each. Sydney Sixers finish the league stage with 14 points from 10 matches in second place, while Sydney Thunder end their league caravan in third position, with 12 points from 10 matches.

Hobart Hurricanes will finish at the top of the points table, irrespective of the result in their final league fixture against Melbourne Stars, who will look to seal the final playoff spot with a much-needed win
. Anyway, all eyes are on the game between Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Heat, which will make calculations easier going towards the business end.

The Hurricanes have locked in a home QUALIFIER with Sydney Sixers, while Sydney Thunder will wait at home for their opposition in the KNOCKOUT Fixture!

That is all we have got from this dampener at SCG. I am AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh, helping buddy Saptak Sanyal and scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi, who brought you all the live coverage of this Sydney Derby. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
3:59 PM IST and 9:29 PM Local Time: The match officials are out in the middle, and we might have an official word soon. It is bucketing down and doesn't look great! Both umpires walk towards the respective dressing rooms, and looks like, they are shaking hands with the skippers. Yes, it's official. The Sydney Smash has been abandoned due to a heavy storm!

We can only get 31 balls in this match. The Sixers had won the toss and invited Thunder to bat. Jack Edwards started the game with a maiden over against Sam Konstas.

David Warner started with a bang scoring three boundaries in the second over that was marred by rain. The game was reduced to 19 overs per side.

13 runs were scored off the 3rd over and then in the 4th over, Jack Edwards removed Sam Konstas in the next over before Todd Murphy gave away four runs in his first.

Ben Dwarshuis started his spell and as he was about to get back to his mark for the second ball of his over, the umpires called for covers.

Rain stopped for a while and the ground staff were taking the covers off for a 9-over game but rain returned in Sydney, forcing the officials to call off the match.
3:55 PM IST & 9:25 PM Local Time: The covers are still in place. We are 25 minutes away from the cutoff time.
3:38 PM IST & 9:08 PM Local Time: Scratch the last update, the covers are back on. This is getting frustrating now. A heavy breeze is blowing across SCG, and some of the members of the crowd lose control of the umbrella.
3:31 PM IST & 9:01 PM Local Time: The covers are coming off. We hear the match has been reduced to 9 overs per side contest!

3:24 PM IST & 8:54 PM Local Time: We got some positive news, folks. There is movement on the ground. The umbrellas are down for the moment. The covers stay on for now. We are not too far away from resumption. David Warner is walking on the field but he is not in his match gear.
