This result sees the Strikers eliminated from the tournament, ending their campaign on a disappointing note. On the other hand, the Sydney Sixers have solidified their position at the top of the table but they now have their sights set on the much-anticipated Sydney Smash on 17th January (Friday).

Steve Smith (Player of the Match): "Yeah it was. It got tight towards the end but the boys did well to get us over the line. Few of our batters did not have a decent hit for a while but it was important for them to get some gametime before the finals. Hayden, Ben and Shaw were brilliant with the bat for us tonight.
I thought Lachlan Shaw played really well for us tonight and also that effort in the deep was exceptional. It was hell of a save and might have been the difference in the end.
Yeah it has been fun for me. Enjoyed my time at the middle and really loved hitting some balls out of the park. I enjoyed opening the batting for the Sixers. It would have been nice if I had been out there for a long time.
One more, I will play against the Thunder and then will leave after that. Yeah no doubt, I will be watching the finals for sure. Big game at the SCG coming up."

5:18 PM IST & 10:18 PM Local Time| What a finish at the Adelaide Oval! A nail-biting final over thriller that went right down to the wire. The Sydney Sixers held their nerve and secured a dramatic 3-wicket victory with just one ball to spare, leaving the home crowd stunned as the Adelaide Strikers bow out of the tournament.
Earlier in the day, The Adelaide Strikers were off to a cautious and shaky start after being put into bat by Moises Henriques. The early breakthroughs for the opposition put the Strikers on the back foot as they lost both openers inside the first five overs.
Alex Carey struggled to find fluency in his innings, managing just 18 before being dismissed. The team failed to gain momentum and at the halfway mark, the Strikers were reeling at 65/3.
The Adelaide Strikers decided to take the Power Surge early, aiming to inject some much-needed momentum into their innings. The move paid off, as they managed to score 31 runs during the two-over Surge. Ollie Pope and Alex Ross were instrumental in steadying the ship, putting together a vital 97-run partnership for the 4th wicket.
A quickfire cameo from Jamie Overton (32* off 14) provided the perfect finishing touch to the Adelaide Strikers' innings, propelling them to a commanding total of 182/5 in their 20 overs. For the Sydney Sixers, Jack Edwards (2/22) and Todd Murphy (2/24) were the standout performers with the ball.
Steve Smith's dismissal in the 10th over proved to be a turning point in the game, as the momentum shifted dramatically. The Sixers, who were cruising at one stage, suddenly found themselves under pressure as the Adelaide Strikers stormed back into the contest.
The home side capitalized on Smith's departure, picking up three quick wickets in succession. The Sixersβ middle order faltered, losing wickets in clusters, and their steady run chase was thrown into disarray. The visitors found themselves in desperate need of a stabilizing partnership to regain control of the match.
Ben Dwarshuis & Lachlan Shaw added up a crucial 55-run stand for the 6th wicket dragging the game as deep as possible. Buckingham dismissed Dwarshuis in the second over of the Surge.
With 23 runs needed off the final two overs, Adelaide Strikersβ skipper Matthew Short decided to take a bold gamble by giving the ball to the leg-spinner Lloyd Pope. Pope bowled brilliantly for the first five deliveries but Hayden Kerr delivered the killer blow in the final delivery of the over sending the ball sailing over the long-on fence for a massive six.
Henry Thornton had a tough task of defending just 10 runs in the final over, but the experienced Sydney Sixers batters held their nerve to seal a thrilling 3-wicket win. The Sixers successfully chased down the target with one ball to spare, handing the Adelaide Strikers a heartbreaking defeat in front of their home crowd.

1 The batters sneak a single and the Strikers are eliminated from this season's BBL! Too full at the stumps. Abbott nudges it with soft hands towards short mid wicket. The fielder picks up the ball and underarms it to the stumps at the bowler's end. He fails to get the direct hit and Abbott puts in the full length dive to complete the run. Stunned silence at Adelaide Oval as the Adelaide Strikers are knocked out of the tournament!
