Tim David (Player of the Match): "It's always nice when you hear that crash. Happy with the result. When we batted at night here the ball comes really well. Thankfully I got going after my first 15 balls.
I was trying to hit the ball after the ground which I haven't done in a long while. It is more fun. The Power Surge is taking a bit of stress off playing in the big grounds in Australia. I practiced much and once we got ahead in the run chase then the pressure got off us.
We just know we are good enough to be there. We have 3 more to go and we will push to lock-in a home final."

4:53 PM IST & 10:23 PM Local Time| Tim David sealed the match in style, guiding the Hobart Hurricanes to a commanding victory over the Sydney Thunder in this top-of-the-table clash. The Hurricanes showcased their dominance, climbing to the top of the standings with a crucial two points. A clinical 6-wicket win tonight sees them sitting firmly at the summit.
Earlier in the day, Nathan Ellis won the toss and opted to field first, putting the Sydney Thunder into bat. The Thunder had a cautious start, failing to hit a boundary during the powerplay. Sam Konstas fell early for just 4, followed by Matthew Gilkes, who managed only 9, leaving the Thunder under pressure in the initial stages.
David Warner stood tall for the Sydney Thunder, carrying his bat with an unbeaten 88* off 66 balls in a lone effort to anchor the innings. The partnership between Warner and Sam Billings was the only bright spot in an otherwise subdued batting display. Remarkably, the Thunder failed to hit a single six in their innings, eventually posting 164/6 from their 20 overs.David Warner at the halfway stage of the innings said, they were 15-20 runs short.
In reply, The Hobart Hurricanes started their chase explosively, racing to 28 runs within the first two overs. However, George Garton provided the breakthrough, dismissing Matthew Wade for 13. Soon after, Owen followed suit, also falling for 13. The Sydney Thunder fought back impressively, regaining momentum and finishing the powerplay on a strong note.
Ben McDermott, celebrating his 100th BBL match, was unable to take the field during the chase due to a hamstring injury sustained in the first innings. Big Tim David was promoted up the order, and he delivered a match-winning performance. Starting cautiously, he rotated the strike efficiently before exploding in the power surge.
David (68* off 38) unleashed his power, smashing the ball to all parts of the ground and sealing the deal for the Hobart Hurricanes. They secured a comprehensive 6-wicket victory over the Sydney Thunder with 19 balls to spare, cementing their position at the top of the table. Stay tuned for the Post-Match Presentation!
