Max Bryant (Player of the Match): "We had to go at 12s in the last 10. Me and Matty had to do it in the end. We needed to change the momentum and happy
with it. It was like a dream. Me and Matty are good mates and we talked a lot in the middle. It was a pretty special moment. It was important for me to come and score at a quick rate.
It’s pretty awesome. It’s all blue just like it’s all orange at the Optus. Great atmosphere."

4:55 PM IST, 9:25 PM Local Time: That’s it. Brisbane Heat get home in front of their home crowd. A much-needed win for them. They beat Sydney Thunder by five wickets to get back to winning ways. Thunder were in total control of this game for the 30 overs but lost it in the last 10 and suffer a loss. That’s the beauty of T20 cricket.
Chasing a stiff target of 174, Heat lost Jack Wood (2) in the very first over. Colin Munro was joined by Nathan McSweeney who scored seven before getting dismissed on the last ball of the powerplay. Munro laboured his way to 23 off 25 before holing out in the deep. Matt Renshaw and Max Bryant led the recovery work for Heat as they were reeling at 53/3 at the halfway mark of their innings.
Renshaw and Bryant teed off in the Power Surge which was taken in the 11th over and scored 32 runs in it. It helped them gain the momentum as both scored at a brisk rate. The Thunder bowlers looked clueless as the pair of Renshaw and Bryant took the game away from them. Both scored at a brisk rate and took their stand past 100.
Bryant brought up his fifty off just 26 balls. He hit seven fours and four maximums to score 72 off just 35 balls before getting trapped in front of the stumps in the 17th over. Tom Alsop departed cheaply on nine but Matt Renshaw (48*) and Michael Neser (7*) took Heat across the line with seven balls to spare. Lockie Ferguson's spell of 2/21 went in vain as Thunder failed to defend the total.
Earlier, Sydney Thunder were asked to bat first. Ollie Davies (10) was sent packing early in the innings. Skipper David Warner played beautifully and held the innings nicely, despite losing partners at the other end as Matthew Gilkes (20), Sam Billings (10), Sherfane Rutherford (11) and Hugh Weibgen (11) failed to make an impact.
Warner brought up a well-compiled fifty off 35 balls before falling on the very next ball. His innings laid a foundation for a strong finish. Daniel Christian who had come out of retirement played a handy cameo of 15-ball 23* to power Thunder to 173/8 at the end of their 20 overs. Spencer Johnson picked up three scalps for Heat, conceding 39 runs in his four overs.
