That brings an end to our coverage of this game. Do switch tabs as Brisbane Heat are hosting the Melbourne Stars at The Gabba. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Soumarya Dutta and scorer Yogesh Kumar. Bye bye.

1:39 PM IST, 7:09 PM Local Time: That’s it. The Hobart Hurricanes register hat-trick of wins in this year’s Big Bash League. They beat the Sydney Sixers by 50 runs at home and put an end to their unbeaten run. The Men in Magenta suffer their first loss in BBL 2024-25 after four successive wins and have been completely outplayed today in Hobart.
Chasing 162, the Sixers lost both their openers Josh Philippe (6) and James Vince (11) inside the powerplay. Kurtis Patterson (9) was knocked over in the fifth over by Waqar Salamkheil. Skipper Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk tried to resurrect the innings before the former fell on 22 as the Sixers were struggling at 64/4 after 10 overs.
Jack Edwards (1), Jordan Silk (20) and Hayden Kerr (2) fell in quick succession as the Hurricanes controlled things in the middle overs. The required run-rate crept up and it was too much to do for the lower-order batters as the Sixers got knocked over on 111 in the last over to lose the game by 50 runs. Each of the six Hurricanes’ bowlers entered the wickets column, with Chris Jordan picking up three as they completed a dominant performance with the ball.
After being asked to bat first, Mitchell Owen gave the Hurricanes a solid start. He scored a quickfire 17-ball 33 before falling in the fifth over. Matthew Wade (15) and Shai Hope (4) failed to create impact. Ben McDermott and Nikhil Chaudhary stitched a brilliant 70-run stand for the fourth wicket which laid a platform for a solid finish.
However, McDermott (34) and Chaudhary (42) departed in quick succession and the Hurricanes lost all the momentum. As a result, they failed to finish with a flourish as they posted 161 on the board at the end of their 20 overs. The Sixers picked up six wickets in total, with Jackson Bird finishing with outstanding figures of 4/16 in his four overs.
W CLEANS HIM UPP!! THE HOBART HURRICANES WIN BY 50 runs! It was too full and right into the block hole around middle stump from Jordan. Bird tried to heave at it but missed the line of the delivery as it cannoned into the stumps. The Sydney Sixers have been bowled out in the process for 111 in 19.3 overs.
