That will be it from all of us for this game. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is the trio of Akshay Bhide, Soumarya Dutta and scorer Bishal Mandal, signing off. Bye bye.
Nathan McSweeney (Player of the Match): "I thought Matt Renshaw did really well. His innings helped me to get in early on. We took the Surge and capitalized on it and got over the line in the end.

It's always nice to bounce back and I loved my time with the national team. Hopefully I can come back better. I got messages from a lot of ex players and it motivated me.

Brisbane is my home and it's nice to get back and do it front of the home crowd. Our squad is strong this season and we are only getting better. We have some good quicks who have joined us too."

5:05 PM IST, 9:35 PM Local Time: There it is. Brisbane Heat win a thrilling contest at The Gabba. The game went down the wire and Mitchell Swepson and Nathan McSweeney held their nerves to take Heat across the line on the final ball. They beat the Adelaide Strikers by three wickets to make it two wins in a row. The home fans love this as McSweeney walks off after playing a match-winning knock for the Brisbane-based franchise just after getting dropped from the national Test side.

Heat lost Jimmy Peirson (8) and skipper Colin Munro (7) cheaply early in the chase of 175. Nathan McSweeney was joined by Matt Renshaw as both started building a partnership for the hosts, with the scoreboard reading 26/2 at the end of the mandatory powerplay. Renshaw stepped on the accelerator and played some beautiful strokes. He kept on scoring at a brisk rate and brought up his fifty off just 24 balls, his fastest in BBL.

Lloyd Pope cleaned up dangerous-looking Renshaw on 27-ball 54 to break the 66-run stand. He trapped Max Bryant (3) in his next over to help his side get back in the contest. Paul Walter joined McSweeney at the crease who kept going strong from the other end and brought up his fifty off 36 balls to keep his side in the hunt.

Walter scored 19 before falling on the final ball of the 17th over. McSweeney found regular boundaries to bring the equation down to 5 from 6. Xavier Bartlett holed out in the deep on three on the second ball. Mitchell Swepson gave the strike back to McSweeney who picked up three runs in the next two balls. With one required from the last over, Swepson hit one over the infield in the off side to take his side home with three wickets in hand, with McSweeney remaining unbeaten on 77 off 49 balls at the other end.

Earlier, the Strikers were asked to bat first and they lost both their openers – Matthew Short (13) and D’Arcy Short (1) inside the powerplay. Chris Lynn and Ollie Pope looked good at the crease and scored 24 and 34 respectively before falling on either side of the drinks break. Jamie Overton started positively at six and was well-supported by Alex Ross (20).

The foundation was laid for a strong finish for the Strikers. James Bazley played a good cameo of 11-ball 23. Overton hit some lusty blows in the end and remained unbeaten on 45 off 24 balls to power the Strikers to 174/6. Will Prestwidge bowled a decent spell for Heat and registered figures of 2/16 in his two overs. The rest were a bit on the expensive side.

1 SWEPSON DOES THE JOB! THE BRISBANE HEAT WIN BY 3 WICKETS!! It was overpitched and bowled wide outside off stump. Swepson squeezed it away on the up and got it just over backward point. It was enough for the Heat to get over the line as they needed just 1 run to win off the final ball.
