Moises Henriques (Sydney Sixers Captain & Player of the Match): "It was a nerve wracking game but we put our best foot forward and got ourselves to a winning start. We bowled well and the wicket was quite good. We were confident of chasing it down. I was trying to watch the ball till the end and hit it well. We targeted the short boundary and it was always going to be tough for Adam Zampa as we targeted him in the Surge. Dwarshuis and Abbott bowled well in the death. Joel Davies also did a good job and really happy for him. "
Player of the Match - Moises Henriques (Sydney Sixers)
5:03 PM IST, 10:33 PM Local Time: The Sydney Sixers start their campaign with a magnificent team performance defeating the Melbourne Renegades by 5 wickets at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The Sixers won the bat flip and elected to bowl first. BBL debutant Tim Seifert top scored with 55 in 42 balls and skipper Will Sutherland (36* off 28) provided finishing touches to help the Renegades score 169/7.

James Vince got the Sixers off to a flying start hitting 3 boundaries in his first 4 deliveries. Josh Philippe was sent back by Tom Rogers after the opening batter was dropped a ball prior. Jack Edwards joined Vince at the crease and added 62 runs in 8 overs with the number 3 batter scoring 37 in 28 balls before Kane Richardson broke the pair.

Sixers lost two more wickets as skipper Sutherland dismissed Vince for 40 and left arm spinner Hassan Khan had Jordan Silk removed in the 13th over. Skipper Moises Henriques joined the crease and played some attacking shots to put the pressure back on the Renegades.

Hayden Kerr who batted up the order ahead of the injured Daniel Hughes had some discomfort with his left hamstring and retired hurt. Ben Dwarshuis joined his skipper and remained there till the end.

Henriques brought up his 50 off 26 deliveries and was unbeaten on 53 in 27 balls with Dwarshuis scoring 14 off 6 including the winning boundary. Melbourne captain Will Sutherland (2/20) was the pick of the bowlers with Richardson (1/23), Adam Zampa (0/34) and Hassan (1/27) bowling some tight overs in the middle phase.

4 FOURRRR!! THAT's the GAME for the SYDNEY SIXERS!!! It was bowled on length at 128 kmph outside off stump. Dwarshuis picked it up and went down the ground. He smacked it away over mid off and it raced away to the fence to hand the Sydney Sixers a 5 wicket win.
