Perth Scorchers Women won the toss and sent Adelaide Strikers Women to bat first.
Smriti Mandhana and Katie Mack batted superbly right from the start to board 81 runs for the opening partnership. Mandhana at Mack both scored 41 runs and gave their team a solid start.
Laura Wolvaardt then took the onus and she got the assistance from Tahlia McGrath. Tahlia hit two maximums to score 18 and later Bridget Patterson scored 14 runs. The Protea stalwart Laura Wolvaardt scored 48 runs facing 28 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Alana King was the star of the bowling show picking up 3 wickets for 29 runs. Sophie Devine took a couple of wickets. Chloe Ainsworth took a wicket but she was expensive as she conceded 40 runs from her 4 overs.
Coming to chase the run, the Adelaide Strikers Women were in deep trouble right from the start as Megan Schutt continued to trouble them with her seam movement. She took the important wickets of Maddy Darke and Dayalan Hemalatha(10). Amy Louise Edgar was sent to shield Sophie Devine but Schutt got the better of her in the very first ball she faced. Beth Mooney got out trying to accelerate against the spinners.
Sophie Devine and her New Zealand team mate Brooke Halliday then took over the responsibility and registered a 52-run partnership between them. Sophie Devine got out for 35 but Halliday continued to fight. Mikayla Hinkley and Carly Leeson failed to score runs but Alana King remained unbeaten on 29 off 19 balls till the end of the innings. Halliday was on 1 facing 10 balls but she scored 47 off 44 at the end. Perth-based franchise's batters failed to reach the target and lost the match by 30 runs.
Megan Schutt was the best of the bowlers for her bowling figure of 3/19 from her 4 overs. Anesu Mushangwe took 2 wickets and Amanda-Jade Wellington chipped in with the same number of wickets. Tahlia McGrath, the skipper took a wicket too.
