That's it from our coverage of a thrilling encounter at the North Sydney Oval. Thanks for tuning in, Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Stay tuned for more action from around the world.
Jess Jonassen (Player of the Match & Brisbane Heat Women Captain): "Yeah, I mean any team that is able to defend 140 here at North Sydney Oval is great. We were well below par with the bat but we picked wickets consistently and it was a great effort from all of us.
We say we have to make enough. We pride ourselves in our ability to fight. I ask our girls to defend every single run and keep fighting till the last ball. Nadine out on the boundary saved probably 20 runs. That makes me proud.
All of them to be fair. Someone like Grace Parsons. Coming as a leg-spinner to North Sydney Oval, itβs not easy. Her ability to fight back today against the world-class lineup was exceptional. Really proud of her.
That clarity in the group. It was a short boundary on one side. We spoke about it. We have worked on our plans in the last 12-24 months and really proud that it is working for us.β

1 PM IST, 6:30 PM Local Time: The Brisbane Heat after losing 3 games on the trot, bounce back to win their 2nd consecutive game defeating Sydney Sixers by 12 runs in a thrilling encounter at the North Sydney Oval.
Heat won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening pair of Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne added 63 for the first wicket but the spinners fought back. Amelia Kerr (4/23) was excellent and helped the Sixers restrict the total to 139/9.
The Sixers were hampered at the top losing the top 3 of Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry and Amelia Kerr inside the mandatory powerplay for just 12 runs. Shikha Pandey (2/25) and Nicola Hancock (1/33 in 4) running the order through. Skipper Jess Jonassen sent back Ashleigh Gardner (10 off 17) back in the 7th over. Hollie Armitage scored 17 but was stumped off Grace Parsons's leg break.
Sarah Bryce went big and brought back the Sixers in the game adding 30 runs for the 7th wicket with Sophie Ecclestone. Bryce hit 30 in 26 balls with a four and 2 sixes. Ecclestone hit 24 in 18 balls with 2 fours, a biggie and remained unbeaten till the end.
The equation in the final over was 18 needed off 6 balls but Heat skipper Jess Jonassen held her nerve, removed Caoimhe Bray on the 2nd ball and conceded only 5 runs to take the Heat home.
Jonassen (3/24) was the pick of the bowlers with Grace Parsons (2/18) choking the scoring in the middle overs. Nadine de Klerk was electric in the field and bowled an economic over in the middle phase as well.
With the addition of 2 points, the Heat have got 8 to their name, with all the top 5 sides in the ladder sharing as many points.
