That brings an end to our coverage of this game. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and scorer Paras Yadav. Ta ta. Bye bye.
Ellyse Perry (Player of the Match and Sydney Sixers Women Captain): "Yeah, really important win for us. The way we bowled was great. Sophie Ecclestone was brilliant with the ball as well. (On Hollie Armitage) She is a character. She batted really well. The slower balls were sticking a bit. But Hollie came out positively and gave the momentum. It’s just getting a feel of the contest and the situation. It felt a bit different tonight. But we thought 140-150 will be a competitive score. We could have got more but really happy to see us defend it tonight. Every game is important going forward. There are ebbs and flows throughout the game but really important to stay focused and get on the winning side."

3:50 PM IST, 9:20 PM Local Time: That will be it. The Sydney Sixers Women get back to winning ways in the Women’s Big Bash League 2024. On the back of a solid knock from their skipper Ellyse Perry, they posted a competitive total on the board before defending it successfully. They beat the Hobart Hurricanes Women by 6 runs. The Hobart Hurricanes Women lost Lizelle Lee (4) in the very first over of the chase of 156. Danielle Wyatt-Hodge played some wonderful strokes upfront as the Hurricanes Women scored 36 in the powerplay. The Sydney Sixers stormed back into the contest post-powerplay by dismissing Wyatt-Hodge (30), Nicola Carey (17) and Heather Graham (0) in quick succession. Skipper Elyse Villani was joined by Chloe Tryon as both resurrected the innings. Villani stepped on the accelerator in the Power Surge and raced to 26 off 17 balls before holing out in the deep in the 12th over. Tryon (20) and Tabatha Saville (11) put 26 between them before both fell in quick succession. The Hurricanes Women lost their way at the back end of the innings. The Sixers Women kept picking wickets and the required run rate crept above 10. Lauren Smith at 10 tried hard and scored 21* off 13 balls but it wasn't enough as the Hurricanes Women finished their innings on 149/9 to fall short by six runs. Lauren Cheatle, Sophie Ecclestone and Caoimhe Bray grabbed two scalps apiece for the Sixers Women as it helped them defend the total successfully. The Sydney Sixers Women were asked to bat first and they lost Alyssa Healy (4) and Sarah Bryce (0) inside the powerplay. Skipper Ellyse Perry looked solid at the top of the order and brought up her 31st WBBL fifty. She received good support from Ashleigh Gardner (21) and Hollie Armitage (30). The Hobart Hurricanes Women pulled back things by picking wickets at regular intervals but couldn’t go past Perry who continued going strong from one end. Perry hit 11 fours and two maximums and scored 62-ball 86 before falling on the final ball of the innings as the Sixers Women finished their innings on 155/7. Chloe Tryon and Nicola Carey picked up two wickets each for the Hurricanes Women. In reply, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and kept falling behind the required run rate. They eventually finished their innings on 149/9 to lose the game by six runs.
