Ellyse Perry (Player of the Match): "Thank you very much. First of all I am really happy for Caoimhe who finished off the game with a boundary and also bowled beautifully. She is an exceptional talent I must say.
Yeah it was a super opening game. Obviously, me and Georgia had a chat before the game but we were on different teams. We were exceptional with the ball in the backend of the Renegades Innings and also with the way we batted in the first half of our Innings was just brilliant.
Also full credit to the way, Sarah Bryce batted under pressure after we lost a couple of quick wickets.
Yeah, I just love this competition and the beauty of this competition is the opportunity it offers to the youngsters. Really happy with the overall performance."

2:50 PM IST, 7:50 PM Local Time: Sydney Sixers Women win by three wickets in a high-scoring clash against Melbourne Renegades Women and start their campaign on a high note, thanks to a pivotal knock from Sarah Jennifer Bryce. Also, this is the third-highest chase for Sixers in WBBL history.
Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Melbourne Renegades Women got off to a rollicking start as openers Emma de Broughe (19 off 16) and Courtney Webb (43 off 39) added 58 runs for the first wicket. Courtney Sippel was introduced into the attack in the 8th over, and the right-arm pacer removed de Broughe and Alice Capsey (4 off 2) in her opening over, providing a much-needed breakthrough for the Sixers. She also trapped Webb with her second ball, but it turned out to be a no-ball as she had overstepped.
The Renegades lost a few wickets in quick succession but Georgia Wareham delivered a gem of a knock at number five, scoring 61 runs off 31 balls and helping her side post a hefty 178/8 in 20 overs.
Sophie Ecclestone, Ellyse Perry, and Courtney Sippel each bagged two wickets for the Sixers, while 15-year-old Caoimhe Bray claimed her maiden WBBL wicket, trapping Dottin with a pinpoint yorker on the final ball of her opening over.
In response to a hefty 178 runs, Ellyse Perry and Hollie Armitage went honkers and bonkers from the outset and scored rapidly, especially Perry, who looked in sublime touch. The opening duo added a 50-run partnership in no time. Sophie Molineux trapped Armitage for 30 runs in the 8th over of the innings and broke the opening partnership. The wicket of Armitage triggered a collapse for the Sixers as they started falling like nine pins. Perry (81) notched up her fifty and was inching closer to her century but Georgia Wareham got the better of her compatriot in the 13th over.
The Sixers were 7 down for 147 runs in the 17th over, with the required run rate climbing above 10 runs per over. However, Sarah Bryce played a vital knock to keep her team in the game. She smashed an unbeaten 36 runs off 25 balls, while the debutant, Caoimhe Bray's unbeaten 12 runs cameo helped the Sixers cross the line with one over to spare.
Melbourne Renegades Women staged a solid comeback in the latter half of the innings, but conceding 18 runs in the 18th over proved to be the turning point, and they ultimately failed to defend their total of 178 runs. Georgia Wareham (3/26) shone with the ball for them, claiming three wickets. Alice Capsey chipped in with a couple of wickets, while Linsey Smith and Sophie Molineux shaped a wicket apiece.

4 FOURRR!! The 15-year old finishes things off in style for her side! This has been a remarkable run chase by the Sydney Sixers who win the contest by 3 wickets. Fired it outside off, Bray steps down the track and smashes it over the in-field on the off side, the ball races away to the extra cover fence as both the batters hug each other and celebrate the win. Sensational performance by Sydney Sixers as this is the 3rd Highest Run Chase in WBBL History!
18.5 S Molineux to Bryce
1 Flatter delivery around off, slower through the air, Bryce slaps it along the ground to long-off for a single.
