That's a Wrap from the ODI Series! England have been whitewashed by the Men in Blue, as Rohit Sharmaβs team proved too hot to handle for the visitors. A clinical series for India, showing their dominance ahead of a massive tournament. The players will now recover and regroup as all eyes turn towards the ICC Champions Trophy, set to begin in a weekβs time.
For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit who, along with scorer/analyst Raju Khariya brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYEπ
Rohit Sharma now walks up to the ICC Chairman, Mr. Jay Shah who hands over the trophy to the Indian Captain. Rohit joins his teammates and gives the trophy to Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy. The photoshoots begin as India clinch the ODI Series 3-0!
Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "No very happy. We knew when we came into this series that there will be a lot of challenges which we need to face but we came out pretty well. We have responded really well throughout the series.
Well there is nothing I could've done there (on his dismissal). You need to give credit to the bowler. You have to be lucky to escape that kind of a delivery. I couldn't have done too much about that.
Look, I don't see there was anything wrong we have done in this series. Even if we have done something, I wont stand here and discuss about it. We are having regular chats with the players and they are quite comfortable with it. I am just making sure that we as a team are moving forward. Everyone is ready to standup for the team. We try and keep things very clear.
In terms of skills, I can say there has been near perfect skills from everyone. That is something a champion team looks forward to. I will look into the positives and move forward from there.
I was very happy at the end with the score we got. When you start the innings, you don't think about the target you want to post. We wanted to have the right intent and the boys knew exactly what needs to be done. There is a little bit of freedom which we want to have in the squad.
We have not played a lot of ODI cricket in the recent past but as a team we have done really well in this series."
Shubman Gill (Player of the Match & Series): "I was feeling good and this is one of my better knocks in the format. Wicket was tricky in the start. There was a bit for the fast bowlers in the wicket. We made sure we didn't lose too many wickets in the powerplay and built on it.
You don't think much, you just react to what's coming to you. Not thinking too much as a batter."
