India failed to chase tonight! This series is building up nicely. England managed to stay alive as of now, reducing India's lead to 1-2. The caravan now moves to Maharashtra for the remaining two matches, with the next T20I taking place in Pune on January 31.
For now, it is me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Akshay Bhide and scorer/analyst, Paras Yadav, who brought you all the live-action of this match. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
Varun Chakaravarthy becomes the first bowler in T20Is to pick up two five-wicket hauls in two defeats.
Varun Chakaravarthy (POTM): "Sadly, we didn't make it in this match, but that is the nature of the game; we got to move on and be ready for the next match.
Of course when you're playing for the country, got to take up some accountability and responsibility and be able to do it to a certain extent. I hope to do it well.
I don't complain about getting one-over spells. There have been times when Surya bowls me four on the trot, mentally ready for what he throws at me.
(For his bowling speed excess of 110 kmph sometimes) I have been working on a flipper, and it's coming out well.
Maybe at this stage, I am the best I've bowled, but I can definitely get better. I will rate this as 7.2 out of 10."
Player of the Match: Varun Chakaravarthy
Jos Buttler (England Captain): "Yeah, the guys bowled really well. It was nice to show off the skills. Not only about how fast they bowl but about adjusting to the conditions.
I have said it so many times, Adil is the most important player in our team. He has a lot of variations and we are fortunate to have him in our side.
You don't need to talk too much to Jofra. Even if he goes for 60, you know he is going to come back stronger.
We have so many options who can play at the top of the order and it's hard when you have only two to choose. But Duckett is hard to stop once he gets going. The wicket behaved different than everyone read.
You can go we lost wickets in clumps and fell short. But I think 170 was a good score.
Not at all. I love the way we kept taking the game on. It was a great effort and credit to Adil and Mark Wood for adding 20 for the last wicket which helped us get across the line in the end."
