1:42 AM IST & 9:12 PM Local Time: That's it Somerset have romped to a comfortable win over Sussex by 6 wickets. Tom Abell steers the home team across the finish line with an unbeaten 47 off 34. With this win, Somerset have qualified for the quarter-finals.
Earlier in the game, Somerset won the toss and chose to bowl first. Jake Ball dismissed Daniel Hughes in the 5th over. Harrison Ward made 39 off 23 before falling to Jack Leach.
The middle order struggled, with only James Coles contributing 26 off 19. Nathan McAndrew’s quickfire 20 off 14 at the end pushed Sussex to 158/9 from their 20 overs.
Ben Green was the standout bowler, claiming four wickets for 17 runs in three overs. Jack Leach and Jake Ball each took one wicket, while three Sussex batters were run out.
In reply, Somerset lost Tom Banton early, but George Thomas scored 42 off 30 balls, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore added a quick 20 off 13 deliveries.
Tom Abell and Sean Dickson then combined for a crucial half-century partnership to steer Somerset towards victory against Sussex Sharks.
England international Ollie Robinson went wicketless, finishing his four overs at 0/39. Tymal Mills was the pick of the bowlers for the sharks, with figures of 2/28.
Sean Dickson was run out with just 10 runs needed for the win but Abell stayed not out and got the team over the finish line with 2.2 overs to spare.
