So, West Indies thump England in the ODI series to win it 2-1. Next up is a five-match T20I series with Jos the Boss back leading the visitors. For now, it is me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Pritam Dey and scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar, who brought you all the live-action of this enthralling series decider. We will meet in the next game. Until then, it is cheers!
Shai Hope now walks up to the President of Cricket West Indies, Dr. Kishore Shallow who hands over the Trophy to the West Indies Skipper. Shai Hope joins his teammates for photoshoots and the celebrations begin as West Indies win the three-match ODI Series 2-1.
Shai Hope (West Indies Captain): "The dominance and discipline were the main thing. We asked for consistency, which is what the guys delivered. I thought we were disciplined, and the main thing to be an elite team is to make sure that you do it consistently, pulling weight, ticking boxes off the field and transferring it on the field.
Carty is a big plus for us; the work is really showing. The boys are doing a lot of work off the field, and it's a really big confidence booster for us.
No comments (on being asked about the spat between him and Alzarri Joseph).
In a situation like that, you have to understand that such things happen. It shows that we always fight when we are challenged. Great to see the guys growing in confidence.
The importance of doing things off the field translates onto the field. I'm really happy with the way our batting unit performed, and the bowlers also did really well."
Matthew Forde (Player of the Series): "I was a bit surprised but for me you know it was just going and do the job for my team.
We have the Bangladesh series coming up, I want to get selected and then give my best for my team.
The wicket was slow, we tried to adapt to the conditions quickly. I tried to bowl wicket to wicket and I feel it worked out well for me tonight.
I think it's a brotherhood, it's a collective group of players. The seniors always come up and give their opinions so we respect each other a lot.
Obviously I know my family is here and hopefully I can repeat it back again in the future."
Player of the Series: Matthew Forde
Liam Livingstone (England Captain): "We came back well. The boys in the middle got into decent partnerships, and we finished it well at the backend.
Obviously, we didn't have enough runs on the board. Disappointing not to win the series but there were good moments in this series. There is a lot to learn. There are lots of positives for the young guys.
As I said, they have a hell of a lot to learn from this experience. There are lots of lessons and experiences from this series and a lot to learn as well. We were missing a lot of players in this series, who will come back into our team. Massive honour to lead your country."
Brandon King (Player of the Match): "Well I mean, I have been getting starts but not being able to covert in big games so I am happy with my performance tonight.
Yeah, I mean I was unable to get runs but I try to keep things simple with the same intensity. I am really happy it paid off today.
Yeah, Keacy batted brilliantly today and he helped me a lot as he took away a lot of pressure from my shoulders. He played a wonderful Innings and helped both of us to win the game for our side.
(On that catch) I was trying to get around the ball, the momentum was obviously taking me over the ropes and Alzarri was aware so yeah it became easy.
This is the most important knock of my career."
