That's it from our end from the second ODI of the three-match series between England Women and South Africa Women. The visitors dominated the hosts today as the series is now levelled with the last ODI to be played at Potchefstroom on Wednesday.
For now, this is Arjun Bhalla signing off on behalf of Aditya Agarwaland our scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Bye bye!
Heather Knight (England Women Captain): "Really pleasing, wanted a strong performance after the hard loss in the last game. Lauren Filer set the tone brilliantly; it is always entertaining to watch her from slips, then a bit of madness in the middle.
I was close to taking Charlie Dean off. She was threatening with the drift. When we get on top, we try to get aggressive and take wickets in clusters."
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Women Captain): "We lost the game in the powerplay itself. As the ball was swinging early on, we lost wickets in clusters. And as the game moved forward, the conditions became flatter and flatter.
Thank you (for her milestone of playing 100 WODIs). I was just another game for us, but I would have hoped we had a better result today (on my special game). We will look to come back strongly."
Charlie Dean (Player of the Match): "When I talked to you during the mid-innings, I didn't know that I have snapped a hattrick but now I know that. There was help from both ends, so I enjoyed bowling from both ends. See, I am still young and learning, and I am working on batting."
Player of the Match: Charlie Dean.
Time for post-match presentations!
5:56 PM IST and 2:26 PM Local | A clinical victory for England as they have levelled the ODI series 1-1 with one game to spare. They have beaten the South African Women by six wickets with 156 balls to spare.
Earlier in the day, the English bowlersāCharlie Dean, Sophie Ecclestone, and Lauren Filerādid a fantabulous job of bowling out the Proteas for 136. The two spinners shared seven wickets between them, while the speedster snapped three wickets.
Chasing the modest total, Tammy Beaumont and Maia Bouchier gave the visitors a solid opening stand. They added 69 runs to them, but Annerie Dercksen removed both the openers. Meanwhile, Marizanne Kapp removed Heather Knight.
However, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Danni Wyatt-Hodge shared a quickfire stand of 47, making sure that England didn't lose wickets in a cluster like South Africa. And in the end, Amy Jones took England home with two fours.
