2:07 AM IST, 9:37 PM Local Time: So, we have a rain reduced game here in Lord's London where multiple interruptions took place in the game. In the end, it was Essex who weathered the storm and held their nerves to win the contest by 16 runs under the DLS method. Heartbreak for Middlesex as they needed 80 runs off 6 overs in the revised chase.

Let's recap as how this game panned out in London. It was Middlesex who won the toss and decided to field first. The game started 25 minutes later than scheduled due to rain. Essex came out firing with Adam Rossington and Dean Elgar opening for them. Rossington scored 20 off 14 balls while Elgar scored 28 off 17 balls. Michael Pepper scored 23 off 12 balls. Jordan Cox was unbeaten on 31* off 19 balls while Paul Walter scored 18 off 14 balls. Matthew Critchley also came to the crease but did not face a ball. Essex were 129/4 in 12.4 overs when the rain intervened and forced a stoppage in play. 9 extras given by the fielding side.

Noah Cornwell picked up a couple of wickets to his name for Middlesex while Luke Hollman and Ryan Higgins picked up a wicket apiece.

Rain stopped initially, and the revised target was 143 off 12 overs when the players walked out to start the proceedings. Then, the rain came back in full intensity delaying proceedings further and that meant that close to the cut-off time we got a 6-over game in. Middlesex needed 80 runs to win under the DLS method. Chasing 80 to win, Middlesex tried their best. Stephen Eskinazi the skipper scored 15 off 10 balls while Max Holden tried his best by scoring an unbeaten 41* off 24 balls. But it was a bridge too far in the end, as Middlesex ended with 63/2 in 6 overs with 5 extras given by the fielding side.

Both the wickets in this innings were taken by Paul Walter who finished with excellent figures of 2/16 in 2 overs. The rest of them just about did their job to win the game for their side.

So, Essex beat Middlesex in this South Group fixture by 16 runs under the DLS method. Middlesex still searching for a win this season.
