Earlier in the match, after being put into bat, Derbyshire posted 179/6 in their 20 overs. Aneurin Donald and David Lloyd gave the Falcons a good start. The 114-run stand was broken by Jordan Thompson.
There was not much contribution from the middle order but a cameo from Zak Chappel took them to 179.
Joe Root was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 2/20 in his three overs.
With the bat, Adam Lyth and Dawid Malan stitched together a partnership of 137 runs. Lyth departed for 84 off 51 but Malan kept going from the other end finished the match with a boundary. He remained unbeaten on 79.
