That's all from this encounter between Essex and Middlesex.
For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee who, along with scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
11:15 PM IST, 6:45 PM Local Time: That's the end of the game and Essex have completed a remarkable chase in 17.4 overs chasing down 204. Michael Pepper was the star with his superlative ton before Daniel Sams provided the finishing touches to the victory.

Chasing 204 for the win, Essex lost Adam Rossington relatively early for 10. But it was the Michael Pepper show as he scored a breath-taking 101 off 44 balls and completed his century in just 43 balls. His innings was the difference in the end. He was ably supported by Dean Elgar who scored 32 off 21 balls. Jordan Cox scored a quickfire 22 off 8 balls. Matthew Critchley scored 16 off 11 balls while Daniel Sams finished things off in style with his 10* off 3 balls and hit the winning runs. 8 extras given by the fielding side as the target was achieved in 17.4 overs.

It was a hard day for the bowlers of both sides in Chelmsford. Middlesex were taken to the cleaners. A couple of wickets for Luke Hollman while Tom Helm, Blake Cullen, Josh de Caires, and Ryan Higgins picked up a wicket apiece. But they went the distance.

Earlier in the game, Middlesex were asked to bat first by Essex. Middlesex lost Stephen Eskinazi cheaply but it did not affect them much. Martin Andersson was the initial star with his 49 off 21 balls. Ryan Higgins scored 27 off 23 balls. But the star of the show was Max Holden as he held the innings together and scored an unbeaten 85* off 42 balls. Joe Cracknell scored 22 off 12 balls. 8 extras given by the fielding side as Middlesex ended with 203/7 in 20 overs.

A couple of wickets apiece for Daniel Sams, and Paul Walter. A wicket apiece for Aaron Beard, Matthew Critchley and Luc Benkenstein while Simon Harmer had a rare off day today today.

So, Essex beats Middlesex by 4 wickets with 14 balls left to get their first win in Blast 2024.
