Milestone
That’s all we have for you from this encounter between India Women and Pakistan Women.
For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh who, along with scorer/analysts Raju Khariya brought all the actions of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): "Well, our bowlers and openers made it. First game is always a pressure game but we got the job done. First game is always important to set the tone, whoever got the opportunity, did well.

Yes, when bowling we talked about early breakthroughs and our bowlers did well. Smriti and Shafali gave us a good start. (On what the team is planning to takeaway from this tournament ahead of the T20 World Cup) Just to play well and give our best in the remainder of this tournament and then think about the World Cup later.

Want to keep playing fearless cricket, like we played today. My knee is fine (when asked about using an ice pack after the game)."
Deepti Sharma (Player of the Match) : "Yeah really happy with the performance tonight. I executed my plan well and happy with the result. As a unit we worked really hard and after the South Africa series, I worked a lot on my bowling so I am happy with the way I bowled tonight.

Yeah its always a wonderful feeling picking up their best batter and I was very happy taking the wicket of Nida Dar. Oh wow I did not know the milestone but I am happy with my performance."
Player of the match: Deepti Sharma

Nida Dar (Pakistan Women Captain): "Well, the difference between two powerplays. We lost both powerplays. We came back well but struggled for the major part of the game. I think we have to go back to the drawing board and come back with a strategy for the next game.

Definitely, we have to plan better for the next matches (on asked if they cam come back in the remaining two games)."
21:46 IST & Local Time: It is time for the post-match presentation..
21:38 IST & Local Time | A dominant performance and a comprehensive win by the Women in Blue against their arch rivals at Dambulla by 7 wickets.

Earlier in the day, Nida Dar opted to bat first after winning the toss. Pakistan batters did not get off to a good start as they lost both their openers inside 4 overs to Pooja Vastrakar.

Pakistan tried to accelerate but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sidra Ameen was the highest run scorer in the Innings for Pakistan who scored 25 off 35 balls. Fatima Sana’s cameo of 22* off 16 balls and Tuba Hassan’s 22 off 19 helped the Women in Green cross the 100 run mark.

From 59/3, Pakistan Women were bundled out for 108 in the last over of the Innings. Deepti Sharma (3/20) was the pick of the bowlers for India. Pooja Vastrakar, Renuka Singh Thakur and Shreyanka Patil scalped two wickets each. India Women required 109 runs to chase in their 20 overs.

In reply, both the Indian openers looked really comfortable at the middle as they took down the Pakistan bowlers with a brilliant start with the bat. India were 57/0 at the end of the Powerplay and both the batters were in cruising control in the run chase.

Syeda Aroob Shah picked up both the Indian Openers but it was too late as India Women comfortably chased down the target with 35 balls to spare.

Stay tuned for the post match presentation ceremony.
