Time to conclude our coverage from the match between Birmingham Phoenix and Northern Superchargers where the former registered the fastest run chase and the first ever ten wicket victory in the Men's Hundred competition's history.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Pritam Dey and our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Goodbye and Good night.
Moeen Ali (Birmingham Phoenix Captain): "Yeah an amazing day for us. The bowlers did brilliantly tonight. They have bowled well throughout the season so far and today they were just phenomenal.
I was thinking of bowling earlier but I just got bored because the way the seamers were bowling (laughs). We have some brilliant fielders in our team too. Ben (Duckett) is a terrific fielder and the way he batted it was brilliant.
I think all the teams are pretty strong this time. If you lose a game, keep the belief and comeback stronger next game.
Well when we got to the middle to bat, we did not think of the NRR. When we crossed 40 runs then we decided to finish it off quickly for our Net Run Rate."
Tim Southee(Hero of the Match): "We assessed the conditions very quickly and lucky that we were able to hit the right areas. It is a great team to be a part of. I think we got some confidence but the next two matches are against Welsh Fire and Trent Rockets, they are not an easy team.
These guys are mentally in a very good space and a very good team atmosphere is here."
Hero of the Match: Tim Southee
That's the first ever 10 wicket victory in the Men's Hundred by any team.
00:53 IST & 8:23 PM Local Time| A dominating performance by the home side tonight as they have picked up their third win of the season against the Northern Supercharger who just had a poor day in the field today.
Harry Brook won the toss and elected to have a bat first. The surface played completely different from the way he had said at the toss. None of the batters got going for the Superchargers as the Skipper himself, Harry Brook (15 off 14) was the top scorer for his side.
The return for Ben Stokes wasnβt ideal at the Hundred as with the bat he got a Golden Duck and with the ball, he conceded 17 runs from his 10 deliveries.
The seamers of the Birmingham Phoenix were all over the Superchargers. The Kiwi pair of Adam Milne (3/20) and Tim Southee (3/15) were the pick of the bowlers for the Phoenix. The Northern Superchargers were bundled out for 83.
In reply, the Superchargers required a miracle to get back in the game but Ben Duckett (43* off 20) and Moeen Ali (37* off 21) finished it off as quickly as they could with a 10 wicket win for their side.
This was the fastest ever run chase at the Men's Hundred and also the first ever 10 wicket run chase victory. The Birmigham Phoenix win by 10 wickets and with 61 deliveries to spare!
