That is the end of another Northern Superchargers-dominated fixture. They are on a roll now, with Nicky P coming into form. An all-round performance from the Harry Brook-led side sees them brushing aside the defending champions.
For now, this is me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator PritamDey, and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav, who brought you all the live-action of this blockbuster from the Kennington Oval. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
Sam Billings (Oval Invincibles Captain): "Well it was a hard loss to take for us tonight because the way we played the previous games, we wanted to keep things simple but it didnot work out well for us.
Well this season the totals have been relatively different but at this stadium it is always a really good surface so happy that sometimes this surface offers something for the bowlers.
Well not specifically there was any role for him (Dawid Malan) but as we kept losing wickets, we wanted him to bat deep.
Ah Donovan Ferreira was just phenomenal tonight for us. He gave us an outside chance in the game but at the end we felt short."
Harry Brook (Northern Superchargers Captain): "Yeah it was pretty amazing for us to defeat the Invincibles tonight. We all know how strong there are in both the departments. Well I just thought the way Ferreira was batting, we just wanted to stop the momentum and I think it worked for us.
He is a powerful player so we wanted to take it out of his arc and obviously Potts bowled brilliantly there. I'd say I am pretty calm at the middle, with some funky fielding setups and I love to keep Rashid till the end because he is a top class bowler.
I have a great relationship with Flintoff and he is an awesome guy to work with. I told him the other day how much respect he has from the England Fans.
Yeah I started playing with him since 2019. He is an unbelievable guy and such a powerful player. He also helps me in the middle setting up the field as well. Obviously after the powerplay we wanted to change to spin because the pitch was offering a lot to the spinners so we wanted to keep the pressure on them."
Nicholas Pooran (Hero of the Match):"Well during the time out, it was really important for us to break in play because as a batter who would love to keep going so that was the plan for us. Yeah Harry (Brook) has been brilliant for us. He has lead the team brilliantly in both the games and we got over the line.
I wanted to be in there at the middle and I wanted to target 130+ by constructing a partnership and bat till the end. It is always special to play this venue and win a game away from home. We are going back to Headingley on Sunday so hopefully we can continue the momentum there for us as well."
Hero of the Match : Nicholas Pooran
1:53 AM IST and 21:23 Local Time: Harry Brook's Northern Superchargers win consecutive games as they thrash the Oval Invincibles by 19 runs in their backyard! Both the Northern Superchargers franchises (Men and Women) came to the toughest place to visit and bashed the hosts!
Earlier in the match, Oval Invincibles won the toss and decided to bowl first. Spencer Johnson bowled a magnificent spell with the new ball and kept a lid on Northern Superchargers' scoring. Matthew Short did get off a flyer at one end, scoring a 13-ball 20, but Graham Clark struggled at the other end and didn’t even open his account, facing 6 balls and falling prey to Johnson, who finished his bowling day with figures of 1/10. Sam Curran removed the dangerous-looking Short in the final set of the powerplay.
Nicholas Pooran (65* off 41) started off on the slower side but soon took off and smashed his second consecutive half-century, who didn't get help from his skipper Harry Brook, but got decent support from Adam Hose (18 off 16) and Ollie Robinson (20 off 10).
Pooran stood tall till the end and finished the innings off in style with a maximum downtown as Northern Supercharges posted a competitive 145/5 in 100 balls.
For Oval Invincibles, Sam Curran took two wickets despite an expensive final set, and Johnson, Saqib Mahmood, and Adam Zampa each took one wicket.
With the ball moving both ways, Will Jacks and Dawid Malan struggled to get going, which put pressure on the home side. There was no real flow in the innings, as they lost wickets at regular intervals. The spinners of the Superchargers squeezed on the runs in the middle phase of the game. Malan (17 off 24) and Jordan Cox (15 off 12) were the ones with double-figure scores to their names in the top order.
At one stage, Oval were down and out from the contest but Donovan Ferreira kept fighting and went berserk to smash the Superchargers bowlers left, right and centre. The Proteas wicketkeeper batter scored 49 from just 24 balls, hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes.
A smart call for the Strategic Time-Out from Harry Brook halted the momentum of Ferreira, with the Oval-based franchise requiring 30 off 10 balls. In the penultimate set, bowled by Matthew Potts, he removed the dangerous Ferreira, and that was the game for the visitors.
Eventually, Oval Invincibles were restricted to just 126/9 in 100 balls.
For Northern Superchargers, Jordan Clark, Potts and Adil Rashid bagged 2 scalps each, while Mitchell Santner and Matthew Short picked up one wicket each. The visitors were top-class on the field as well.
Stay tuned for the post-match presentations!

1 That's the end of the game as the Northern Superchargers win the game by 19 runs. A fantastic effort by the Superchargers who have defended the target successful against the Invincibles. The entire crowd has been silenced as the visitors take two points from this fixture. Full toss around off as Saqib clips it to mid wicket for a single. The Invincibles fall short of 19 runs.
99b J Clark to S Johnson
1 Around the wicket, back of a length around middle stump line, 84 MPH as Johnson punches it to wide mid off for a single.
98b J Clark to S Mahmood
1 Fuller delivery wide outside off as Saqib carves it in the air down to deep backward point at one bounce for a single.
Saqib Mahmood is the last man in for the Invincibles. Discussion between Clark, Brook and Potts.
Another nail in the Oval coffin. Clark gets his second wicket of the night. Zampa exposes his stumps and pays the price.
97b J Clark to A Zampa
W BOWLED'EM!! Fuller delivery at the stumps, a yorker from Clark, Zampa shuffling far too across his stumps, misses the flick and the ball crashes onto his stumps. Oval Invincibles are 9 down now!
