James Vince(Southern Brave Captain):"Great win. Bowlers did a fantastic job. Craig was given the role to bowl the powerplay overs and he did it. Polly was there as the sixth bowler. We went through the match-ups. Like bowling left arm spinners to the correct batters.
Laurie finished off things really well for us. When the dimensions are big like this, it becomes tricky. With the quality of spinners we have, the thing becomes better for us. Every game, we go through the plans of the bowlers. Plan A is always bowlers preference. If a batter gets a good going, we use other plans to stop him. I got a rapid start and I am always looking to score 30-40 runs quickly.
Jofra's exclusion was guided by ECB and he might miss another game. When he is available, he is a massive asset for us."
Craig Overton(Hero of the Match): "It is a great win. Enjoyed playing here. The wicket was a little bit double paced and if you can make the things hard for the batters, you will be on the winning side. It is good to get a victory in the home ground, in front of the crowd."
Hero of the Match: Craig Overton
01:25 IST & 8:55 PM Local Time | A comprehensive victory for the Southern Brave tonight against the Manchester Originals as they win by 7 wickets, The James Vince led side have won their second game of the tournament while their opponents have lost their 3rd game on the trot.
Earlier in the day, the Manchester Originals were put into bat by James Vince in an overcast condition. Phil Saltβs awful season with the bat continued as he was dismissed for 7 and his partner, Max Holden (2 off 3) soon followed him back in the hut in the same set.
Wayne Madsen batted through the Innings and scored an unbeaten 43 off 37 balls. He was supported at the other end by Jamie Overton who scored 25 off 19 balls. The Originals somehow managed to get 116 runs on the board with the loss of 6 wickets.
Craig Overton (2/11), Tymal Mills (2/26) and Chris Jordan (2/25) were the pick of the bowlers for the Home side. Southern Brave required 117 runs to chase in their 100 balls.
In reply, Manchester Originals had to start off well with the ball to fight back in the game. They just couldn't as both the new ball bowlers were inconsistent with their line and length as Alex Davies punished them early on in the Innings with his quick cameo of 24 off 12 balls.
Contributions from Skipper James Vince (20 off 23) Leus du Plooy (21 off 19) and Laurie Evans (25* off 15) helped the Southern Brave chase down the target with ease with 22 balls to spare.
