That wraps up another thrilling last-ball encounter, folks! Yesterday, it was Sajeevan Sajana stealing the show with her match-defining six, and today, Sobhana Asha takes the spotlight with her lethal bowling, clinching a 5-wicket haul to secure the victory for her side.
For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator Hitesh Peddurwar and scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. CHEERS!
Asha Shobana(Player of the Match): " Lot of struggle, lot of hard work. Finally, the victory is sweet, I am not thinking about my five wickets, I am more happy because we won our first game in front of our home crowd. I knew that the situation would be something like this, a lot of homework was done.
I saw that Grace was going against the turn so I thought to drag my length and see if she tries to go across the line then she might get a top edge or get bowled. I was ready to get smashed here, I was sure that I am gonna get the wickets too."
Player of the Match: Asha Shobana
Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore Women Captain): "Yeah, I think pretty nice game. I think even the last match was really close and I think the same equation came up on the board again. And we saw what happened in the last match against Mumbai and Delhi. So I woke up all the gods today because I was at overs and I was just trying to pray and I think the bowlers did an amazing job today.
Yeah, that's what I thought when I saw three balls, nine runs, and the boundary, and I think pretty similar equations of last night. Of course, we were all watching the last match, but I think had a lot of faith in Sophie and even I think the way she bowled in the last tour was just brilliant. And I think to see Asha the way I think she bowled for the five wickets, I think that was a game changer for us.
Whenever I used to see her on the field, she used to ask me to give her the ball. She's having only the second season of WPL, but not to forget, I think she's a really experienced player. She's been around the domestic circuit for a very long time and I'm really happy that she's getting all the due for her talent.
Well, definitely. I think in the second strategic timeout, we thought we could go past 165 because I think we're really cruising at that point.
And definitely, we thought the wicket was a little slower, so we thought that 165 plus would be a good total to have. But nevertheless, I think the way Richa and Meghana batted was amazing."
