So, the rain has the final say in this contest! It's heartbreak for Nepali fans who assembled in Florida to witness their side play in the mega event and at Sano Gaucharan Stadium in Kathmandu to enjoy the live screening in the early morning.

That's all from this rain-washed contest from our side, folks! Do join us for the ongoing match between Australia and Namibia at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator Ajay Pal Singh and scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal. CHEERS!
South Africa become the first team to qualify for the Super 8s.
6 AM IST & 20:30 Local Time: The match has been officially called off!!!!! No play was possible due to inclement weather in Florida. The ground staff did their best but the rain has the final say in this contest. Both teams share a point in this Group D clash.

This washout has made things even more difficult for Sri Lanka now. Their chances of making it to the next round look very slim. They will face the Netherlands in their last group game and need to win by a big margin to take their net run-rate above other teams and hope other results go in their favour. They need the Bangladesh and Netherlands game to be a washout. Then hope Bangladesh lose to Nepal and Nepal then lose to South Africa.

For Nepal, the equation is tough but not impossible. They need to win both of their remaining games against South Africa and Bangladesh and hope the Dutch lose at least one of their remaining two fixtures.
5:21 AM IST, 19:51 Local Time: An inspection is scheduled to take place at 8.30 PM Local time (6:00 AM IST).

FYI: The match needs to start by 10:47 PM Local time (8:17 AM IST) for a 5-over game.
4:40 AM IST, 19:10 Local Time: Seems like the rain has stopped! The Sri Lankan players can be seen out in the middle with bare feet, but there are plenty of water puddles in the outfield. Chris Silverwood and the other Sri Lankan coaching staff are taking a close look at the conditions.

The mopping work has begun. The on-air commentator says that it would take around 90 minutes to get the conditions ready, given there is no more rain.
4:32 AM IST, 19:02 Local Time: It's pouring at the venue and the live picture is not promising. The toss has been officially delayed due to rain. The cut-off time for a 5-over game is 10:47 PM Local (8:17 AM IST).

The only positive part is that the drainage at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium is good, and the groundsmen will take at least 30 to 45 minutes to get the conditions ready. So, for the 5-over shot, the rain has to stop around 10:00 PM Local (7:30 AM IST).
4:16 AM IST, 18:46 Local Time: While we wait for further updates from the venue, let's take a look at the qualification scenarios from Group D.

- If this game is washed out, then Sri Lanka will be out of contention for a place in the Super 8s. In that case, the max they can reach is 3 points and their net run-rate is already the worst among all the teams in their group.

- If we do get a game and Sri Lanka get a win, even then their chances of making it to the next round are very slim. They have to win big and rely on other results going in their favour.

- If Nepal pull off an upset and beat Sri Lanka, then not only they will knock out Sri Lanka from the World Cup but will also assure South Africa of a place in the next round.
