Rohit Sharma asks KL Rahul to come up and receive the trophy. All smiles in the Indian camp as the players pose behind the 'CHAMPIONS' board. The local players of Saurashtra- Prerak Mankad, Harvik Desai, etc. were a part of the group that was posing behind the banner. They acted as a cover to the Indian squad for the final ODI.
Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "I am pretty happy. Of course would have liked to go all the way along but as long as I'm batting like that I am happy. The last 7-8 ODIs that we played, we did really well in different conditions. We were challenged at different times of the game and we took it well. Under pressure, different conditions and teams as well so I though we responded to it very well. Unfortunately not the result we wanted today but I am not gonna look into this game. We've been playing really well.
Body wise I don't see any issues [with Bumrah]. He has got skills. 1 or 2 bad games here and there can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body wise, that is the key for us.
When we talk about the 15, we are very clear what we want and who are the guys who are gonna do the job for us. Pretty clear in our mind, not confused. We know where we are headed as a team. Its a team sport at the end of the day and you need everyone to come and play their part. That's how you win championships. Focus on the next 1 and a half month will be on that. How we are going to manage ourselves on the field, looking after our body and making sure that we stay fresh for each game that is in front of us."
Player of the Series: Shubman Gill
Glenn Maxwell (Player of the Match): "Got two haha [award cheques]. Yeah, it's been a lot of hard work. I think the SA tour was a kind of of setback. I went back, got an injection. I feel a lot fresh now. I don't have any travel issues like the other guys. Had gone home, been fresh. Its nice to chip in.
I think Mitch Marsh wasn't there, and hence we didn't chop and change with our bowling. If it's our day we will contribute in any ways.
We will try to be flexible as much as we can. Everyone is ready to bat anywhere. We will try to play with our individual styles of strengths."
