So, that’s all the action from this encounter. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. For now, this is Megh Mandaliya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Cheers!
Craig Ervine (Durban Qalandars Skipper): "It looked like we were on the driving seat but last 8-9 balls, it could have gone either way. It was a good game of cricket. We didn't use any spin options today. So it's nice to see all the pacers step up. Amir and Dupa have been good upfront and the local guys have been doing well in the middle overs. Happy to get across the line."

8:18 PM IST, 4:49 PM Local Time | That’s it! Durban Qalandars get back to winning ways. Azmatullah Omarzai holds his nerves and defends 21 runs off the last over after getting thumped for 4 boundaries in a row. Mushfiqur Rahim is in disbelief and the losing streak for the Joburg Buffaloes continues. The Qalandars have defeated Buffaloes by just 2 runs.

Chasing a competitive total of 122, Milton Shumba started the Joburg Buffaloes’ innings with back-to-back boundaries before Mohammad Amir got his revenge and outwitted the southpaw for 9(5) in the first over. The right-handed Will Smeed failed to carry the momentum forward and holed out in the deep at 7(8). After losing two wickets in quick succession, skipper Mohammad Hafeez paired up with Yusuf Pathan to resurrect the innings.

Hafeez went all guns blazing and accumulated 30(13) before he was deceived by Daryn Dupavillon in the floating powerplay. Yusuf Pathan kept scoring at a brisk rate but the Buffaloes kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Pathan played a valiant knock of 32(15) but Mohammad Amir ended the right-hander’s progress in the penultimate over.

Joburg Buffaloes needed 21 runs off the last over when
Mushfiqur Rahim 18*(6) smashed four consecutive boundaries and brought the equation down to 4 runs from the last delivery. Azmatullah Omarzai eventually defended the score as Buffaloes fell short by just 2 runs. The left-armer Mohammad Amir (2/23) was the pick of the bowlers for the Durban Qalandars.

Earlier in the day, after being invited to bat first, Tim Seifert steered the Durban Qalandars to a rollicking start. Seifert was dropped by Mushfiqur Rahim in the first over and the New Zealand batter made the most of it. His opening companion Hazratullah Zazai, however, was struggling to find the gaps and departed after a scratchy 2(8). The Durban spinners bowled tight lines and stemmed the flow of runs after the powerplay overs.

The Spiceman Andre Fletcher joined forces with Seifert and pushed the pedal. The duo added quick 31 runs for the 2nd wicket. Seifert played a fantastic knock of 46(20) before Wellington Masakadza had the woods over him. The Joburg Buffaloes were again able to slow down the proceedings after the departure of Seifert but they were sloppy in the field at the backend of the innings.

The Qalandars opted for the floating powerplay in the 8th over and skipper Craig Ervine swatted 22 runs off that. Asif Ali also teed off in the final over and concluded the innings with three consecutive maximums. Asif 31*(10) and Ervine 30*(14) stitched a crucial 63-run partnership and helped the Qalandars to post a formidable total. Wellington Masakadza was the most successful bowler for Joburg Buffaloes and finished his stint with the figures of 2/22. Stick around for the post-match presentation!
