Let us wrap it up! Controversies are the game of the names! There is a first for everything, and this is the first timed-out dismissal in the cricketing history. Mathews- Remember the name and script in the history books! Sri Lanka are officially knocked out of the tournament. Bangladesh broke their 6-match losing streak and got something to cheer about in the last half of the round-robin stage.

For now, it's me AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and Sidharth Gulati, who, alongside our scorers/analysts Zeeshan Naiyer and Ghanendra Singh Thakur, brought you all the live-action of this mouth-watering feast! We will meet again. Until then, cheers!

Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh skipper): “Yeah. I mean, when I won the toss, I didn’t had any hesitation in bowling first because we have trained here and knew that dew will come. When you are not playing well, 270 looks a big total. We had to bat well. We had to build partnerships. Me and Shanto had to dig in. Win is a win and in this situation, it will give us a lot of confidence.

We know that the young players have a lot of potential and we have to back them as they are the future of Bangladesh cricket.

Well. One of our fielders came in and told me that if you appealed, then we could get out. Then I appealed and the umpires asked whether I'm serious. I said yes.

It’s in the laws. I don’t know whether it’s right or wrong. I feel I was at war and I had to make the decision for the team to win. Right or wrong. There will be debates. But if it works, I have to take the decision.

Yeah. I thought that helped to show more fight. I’m 36 and that fight doesn’t come often but it came tonight while batting and I won’t deny that."
Kusal Mendis (Sri Lanka skipper): “Charith played a brilliant innings. But I feel we fell 30-40 runs short. 320 would have been a good total on this surface.

Yeah. I’m happy that Pathum, Dilshan, and Sadeera have done well. We have shown some promise in the tournament. In the future, we will have a good team to show promise.

When we were coming in, there were a couple of injuries to our main players. So we had to change the combinations. We made some mistakes early in the tournament and we would have done better in all departments.

It’s very disappointing. When Angelo came into bat, there were 5 seconds left on the clock. He realized that the strap of his helmet was broken. I feel that the umpires should have stepped up. It was common sense and it’s disappointing that the umpires didn’t make the right decision at that point of time.
