Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "I think its a good start to the tournament. We know that the job is half done. There is a long way to go in the tournament. Its important for us to stay balanced. Not think too far ahead of us. But enjoy the moment as well.

Shami took the opportunity with both hands, the way he bowled. He has got class. The way he bowled, bowling in these conditions; he bowled really well.

At one stage we were looking 300+. The way Mitch and Rachin batted, they put up a big partnership there and the wicket was easy to bat on as the dew came in as well. I got to give credit to our bowlers at the backend. Pulled things nicely and restrict them to 270 odd was a good effort in the end.

I am enjoying my batting with Gill. Both of us are different personalities, different ways of playing as well. We complement each other in the middle. Couldn't get big enough runs for the team but happy that the team won.

[Kohli's finish]. There is nothing much to say honestly. We have seen him do this for so many years. Such a calm head. He backed himself to do the job but again towards the end there was pressure. We lost a couple of wickets but Kohli and Jadeja pulled us back.

Fielding is something we really pride ourselves on. Today wasn't as clinical as we would have liked to. Couple of dropped catches here and there but you are talking about Jadeja who is one of the best in the world. These things happen but we want to build on that. Fielding is something that will decide a lot of things in the future.

We love travelling and playing in different parts of the country. So far they have not disappointed and we also haven't disappointed the crowd as well. Beautiful ground and weather."
Tom Latham (New Zealand Captain): "Yeah, I thought we played reasonably well. Maybe in the last 10 overs, we lost our way. India bowled really well in that phase. We couldn't stitch many partnerships in the last ten and hence failed to get the par score. Probably 30-40 short.

India batted well, they stitched partnerships after that back-to-back wickets. We failed to get the wickets during that partnership. Failed to get the double breakthroughs.

Yeah, as I said, India bowled really well. Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra forged a brilliant partnership and got us a very good platform. We had the foundation set for the back 10 overs. That is where you want to be as a team. If we get things right in the death overs, we are a dangerous side.

Again Virat Kohli played an excellent innings, chasing a total. A fantastic knock. He controlled the tempo of the innings, and the rest were allowed to bat around him. As a captain, you have to be proactive but also work to your plans. Think about match-ups. Virat has a response to most plans.

We never played under fog. A rare situation for us. But sometimes, you find yourselves in those. It was a new challenge for us. Yeah, we have our next match coming in a week's time. We need to get back into the drawing room and get the little things sorted."
Ninaad: Yes Sidharth! Brilliant dominating start for the home side. The top order especially has done a wonderful job. Virat Kohli is looking at his best, Rohit Sharma is providing wonderful starts every single time and whoever gets the role with the ball, gets the job done for the team as showcased by Shami tonight.
