Gary Gilmour (1975), Shane Warne (1999), Mitchell Johnson (2011), Brett Lee (2011), Mitchell Starc (2019) and Adam Zampa (2023) are the Australian bowlers with consecutive 4-plus wicket hauls in World Cups.
Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "Great to get the win. Playing at Chinnaswamy and winning defending a score was great to see. Yes, those two were special and Davey playing till the end made the difference.
At the end of the day, it's all about someone staying till the end and playing a big innings. We stuck at it really well and got the win.
The bowlers as a whole bowled well and Zampa getting those crucial breakthroughs was great for us. He has been terrific for us in the last two games.
Going into the next game, it's all about trusting the process and doing the basics right. I feel we have to continue this intensity going forward.
4-day break and we will look forward to getting 2 days off and then practise and play the game."
Babar Azam (Pakistan Captain): "Yes, if you ask, and to be honest, yes, we were not up to the park. And if you drop the catch of David Warner, then they won't spare you.
This is a big scoring ground. The margin of error is very less on these grounds, and if you don't bowl on good lines and lengths, you are gonna get hit.
Yeah, we came back really well with the ball in the last 15 overs. Credit goes to our bowlers. Both spinners and fast bowlers bowled well and tried to attack the stumps.
The message is simple to the batters. Under the lights, the ball comes nicely onto the bat. We started well but couldn't continue the momentum. We need big partnerships. We had it for the first wicket, but we weren't building big partnerships later on. We could only build small partnerships, and that we can't afford, chasing in excess of 300.
Going to Chennai, we need to improve a lot. We need to be much better for the first 10 overs with the ball and have to bat well during the middle phase."
With the victory, Australia, the five-time champions, move to fourth in the points tally.
How about this one for aggression?? 👇👇
Sidharth: Australia are back on track. Once Travis Head returns, they'll be even more dominant.
