Milestone
That is the end of our coverage as well. Australia got their first win, while Sri Lanka succumbed to three defeats. For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Akshay Bhide, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer, brought you all the live-action of this contest. We will meet again in another World Cup match. Until then, it's cheers!
Sri Lanka equal the tally of most defeats in the ODI World Cups. They have now lost 42 games and tied up with Zimbabwe.
This is Sri Lanka's 8th straight loss to Australia in the ODI World Cup since the 1996 World Cup final.
Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "Yeah, happy today. Ahh... Probably nothing was said. It was on the back of two losses. The group has got high standards. Everyone was up for it, and they did well on the field.

Not really, we didn't start well. But we bowled well. At 130 off for 1, Sri Lanka was going well. But we stayed in it and scratched our way back into the game.

I am not the right bloke to ask for that (chuckles on asking for the par score on this pitch). The bowlers did well and hit the deck hard. Maybe 300 would have been a par total.

There are a lot of people watching it. They speak, and the outside noise is not a matter of concern for us. Most of the parts of the game came together for us. We will try to keep it up and continue."
Kusal Mendis (Sri Lanka Captain): "I think, credit to Kusal and Nissanka for the way they batted at the top. The middle and lower batters didn't contribute and maybe 280-290 was a good total on this wicket.

More dot balls and less strike rotation led to regular wickets. I think we played high-risk strokes and failed to post a good total on the board as the wicket looked good for batting.

We have batted really well in the last two games. Today, we struggled to get going. I hope we can do better in the next game. We still have six games and I'm confident of my batting unit.

Madushanka bowled really well. He bowled beautifully with the new ball and picked wickets. Dunith struggled a bit but I'm confident that he will bounce back.

I hope KJP and Pathi recover quickly and get available for our next match."
Adam Zampa (Player of the Match): "To be honest, not great. I have been sporting some back spasms for a few days. I just tried to get through this match. But happy to get four wickets and contribute.

I think it was the captain's decision to bowl a right-arm off-break bowler against a left-handed batter. So, I couldn't get a chance to pick up a fifer (laughs).

I haven't been bowling at my best. I feel like I have to be doing better and I have been critical of myself. It took me a lot of time to get into the contest. As I said before, haven't been at my best. But I tried to keep the attitude of picking wickets.

Same role next game. We have got a good game next. We face Pakistan in Bengaluru and that will be a tough game. But just trying to do things right."
