Milestone
The mother of all battles goes exactly opposite to the expectations of it being a close encounter. A one-sided contest to send India to the top of the points table. It's 8-0 to the Men in Blue in the marquee event. Pakistan came unbeaten to this game and were handed their first defeat of this World Cup.

India have the Bangladesh challenge up next at Pune on 19th October, while Pakistan face wounded Australia at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 20th October
.

For now, it's me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and Sidharth Gulati, who, alongside our scorers/analysts Zeeshan Naiyer and Raju Khariya, brought you all the live-action of this battle of arch-rivals. We will meet in another game. Until then, it's cheers!
That's the mood around the Indian camp πŸ‘‡
Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "Yeah. Absolutely. No doubt about it. The bowlers have done a fine job of restricting them to 190. I don't think it was a 190 pitch. We were looking at 280-290 at one stage but the way the bowlers bounced back, shows a great character about them.

We pride ourselves on that. Whoever gets the ball does the job for us. That's what we keep speaking in the changing room. It might happen that it won't be your day. So the other guys step up. I just try to figure out who is doing the job for me.

It's only because the guys before entering the World Cup got the clarity. We were very clear about what we wanted to do. We very were clear with what the guys had to do and they also took full responsibility for it. The bowlers also have been picking fifers before the World Cup. But we don't want to go too ahead of us. Also, we don't want to get too low. We want to stay balanced.

Honestly, I have said a few times. This is the opposition that we wanted to play because they are a strong opposition. We wanted to get on the field and give our best. What has happened in the past or what will happen in the future doesn't matter to me much. We just take it as any other game."
Babar Azam (Pakistan Skipper): "We started well with the bat. Imam-ul-Haq and I stitched a good partnership. But we collapsed and didn't finish well. The collapse wasn't good for us and it cost us the game. We haven't bowled well with the new ball. But credit to Rohit for the way he played."
Jasprit Bumrah (Player of the Match): "Yeah. It felt good. Usually, you try to analyze the wicket and how to bowl. We assessed the conditions quickly and tried to make life harder for their batters.

Just being aware. When I was young, I was asking a lot of questions. So that it helps. I was asking a lot of questions to my seniors and I guess that helped me assess the conditions quickly.

I saw Jaddu's bowl turn a bit. So I thought it would be a good option to bowl in the middle overs. I tried and it gripped and that's one of those days.

There was a little phase in that when there was a reverse swing. It was the outswing and not the cutter. I have seen him and Wasim Akram bowl some magical deliveries while growing up. So him praising me is a great feeling."
